    Two thngs to say here:

1 - Steroids produce mass, it is hard work that gets the strength. Plus they are illegal, AFL players are subject to random testing. Not worth getting caught.

2 - Plugger46 - please please correct your signature; it's spelt Skilton , lysdexia strikes us all at sometime..

Illegal or not, they have been used in the past and it would not surprise me one bit if there are AFL players using them now. I'm not saying I agree with their use, but the guy who eventually gets caught (whoever it is) is not the only one using.

I'd be interested to here what David David Misson would have to say about this. I remember reading some time back that he thought AFL had evolved into more of an endurance/running game and that strength has less to do with performance. I think the guys look a lot skinner (more like long distance runners than boxers) since he has been around....

Our style of game is definitely more suited to endurance over strength. However, you probably need 4-5 players who can stand up in the strength stakes, while having the rest being able to run all day. Not every game is going to be suited to those running machines.

If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.

Missan has been credited with reducing the bulk of a few of our players - Ball and Maxfield were two specifically mentioned. Though Maxfield did look to have bulked up a bit again this season.
