    Voting for members

    G'day all
Well, what a tremendous season - great excitement and much to look forward to.

I was thinking back to the mood of these boards twelve months ago (that is in the "pre-Roos period") and recall much discussion around giving the members a vote for a seat on the board of the club or something similar.

Could someone tell me where this is at? It is an interesting concept, and I know some other clubs have the concept. I expect an increase in membership (what, maybe 5k - 7.5k next year?) and I feel this would provide a good base on which to put a few candidates to the people for our buy-in.

I promise I'm not trying to stir the pot of all the old Colless issues etc. - just interested to know the status (seem to recall a Swans News Issue said they were working towards the end of 2003).

Anyway, I look at this site everyday and love it. I wish I had the time to get to training and events and the like, and I would be grateful in the future, if there are people who go to each training session/ event/ etc, for a review. Otherwise, super stuff.
    Cheers

There was a promise (by Colless if I recall correctly) to start some form of voting rights for members at the end of this year. I suspect that with the excitment of the team exceeding expectation on the ground that some of the steam has gone out of drive for this. There was a lobby group formed who had in their charter to push for voting rights and to get group member(s) on the board. I haven't heard anyting more of it though....

Swans Supporters Inc (SSI - www.swanssupporters.org) is a lobby group formed predominantly to push this view.

Last year, RC stated something would happen last year. This year, he said it would happen this year. Last comment was that it would not be this year.

SSI met with RC in July. The Board was awaiting a paper from a sub-committee which would be distributed to some stakeholders for comment. This has yet to happen, I believe it is due around the end of this month.

SSI was quiet over the finals period deliberately - apart from the obvious reason that noone could think straight!
