    Ablett

My mother was talking to her hair-dresser today, who is a good friend of Luke Ablett's. She said that "Ablett wanted to be traded because of a lack of opportunities" she also went on to say that "he thought it would be good to go to Sydney at first, to get away from the Ablett name, but has now changed his mind"

Apparently the club have offered him as trade bait. I definitely want to keep him, after his preliminary final performance.

    Anyone know anymore?

What more do you want P46. That sounds like it is almost from the horses mouth. Then again your mum could be winding you up, which wouldn't be real hard to do.

      Well my mum was speaking to Plugger46's mum's hairdresser's garbo's brother-in-law's aunty's second cousin's mum and she reckons it's ridgy-didge!

Ahhhhhhh!!!! There's nothing like the off-season.

Luke Ablett's value can only go up, in my opinion. We might not get that much for him if we get rid of him this year, but I reckon next year, if he continues to show form like he did in the PF, then we may get a higher draft pick or better player i return.

I reckon a trade with Geelong for umm, Scarlett....

Alternatively, maybe another club would be willing to offer a bit based on what they saw in that match. It was his best for the club and who knows whether he's capable of doing it (and more) on a regular basis? I guess the club will have a view on whether he can cut it - if they have doubts and some other club wants him, there probably wouldn't be much to lose.

I'm not advocating trading him per se - like everyone else here it is hard to contemplate losing players we have become emotionally attached to - but it wouldn't be devasting from a squad point of view.

unless both ablett and stevens end up being traded, you'd be a bit frustrated to give a young guy to play in a big game like the prelim and then have him want to leave after you stood down another young guy who could have done with the experience... although maybe roosy is more calculating than we thought, and he wanted to increase the market value of both stevens and ablett by giving them a big final each to show their wares
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

I would be sad to see Noggy go, mainly because he never really got his chance to show what he could really do.

The glimpse in the PM was great for him though and if he does want to return to Victoria, then that could work out very well for all involved:

                      * Noggy shows form
                      * Noggy goes home where the Ablett name is legendary
                      * Sydney are able to get something more substantial in exchange

If however, this is just rubbish salon talk, then I sincerely hope he has an impressive pre-season and gets consistent game time in 2004.

I reckon he's a chance at being "Schneider good" next year.

Based on the form of Ablett in the finals, I'd say definitely keep him. I heard something about Ablett getting traded a couple of days ago. I forgot where, it was probably the Herald Sun. Or maybe Channel Ten

That could be very likely. Ablett has been under pressure to perform to stay - which he did - but, having him play in a big game definately increased his value ...

How funny is it that, Ablett states a lack of opportunities as a probable reason for looking to be traded elsewhere !

The fact is, if he was good enough then he would be getting a regular game. I grant you that his finals form was reasonable and his talent indicates he can play at the highest level but time and time again he has been given a chance without taking it.

Now that Creswell has gone both him and O'Keefe have the chance to become that in and under midfielder we are looking for. If Ablett is saying things like that it sounds like he doubts whether he has what it takes to play at the highest level.

Would not be a devastating blow if he was traded and we got something useful out of the deal IMHO.

And when do you base an opinion on just one game, I just hope the football department don't look at this way?
