    Delistings soon

Seems that lists must be finalised in the next few days.

Seems from looking at the 'surprise' delistings from other clubs we should expect some.

Dwayne Russell on 3AW has just announced we have delisted Warfe and Nicks

    Friday is the final day

Is Russell generally considered to be a reliable reporter?

If Nicks is gone, things can't look good for Snapper either.
    We hate Anthony Rocca
    We hate Shannon Grant too
    We hate scumbag Gaspar
    But Leo WE LOVE YOU!

very interesting reggi, can't say that there will be too many disappointed supporters around, although it would have been a better result if we could have got a draft pick for Matty Nicks.

i reckon another club will definitely take a punt on him

By my observation we are already down to 32 without including rookie elevations.

        May just be enough

According to the AFL's published draft information, the first list cut-off is actually Friday 31 October, and lists have to then be finalised for the draft by Nov 14, so that delisted players can sort out their nominations by Nov 19. Not really 'urgent' yet.

Not sure why Russell would say it if it's not true, but it's a brave move to delist contracted players!

maybe we've got the wrong information and these guys aren't under contract for another season?

I know Nicks definitely signed up at the end of 2002, whilst it was reported for 2 seasons maybe the hacks had it wrong. I was certainly suprised at the time.

As for Warfe according to this article he signed a 3 year deal at the end of 2001 (what were they thinking??)

Hang on a minute - you should know you can't criticise club mgmt as they must know more about what they're doing than us...

This is called thinking and moving forward.

If the Swans decide that Nicks and Warfe (and Seymour) are not gonna get a game next year, then delist and pay out their contracts.
Better to blood some younger players and put new guys on the list.
I guess in a way they are admitting that the deals signed were perhaps a bit too generous as far as time goes.
But then lok at Brisbane signing Lynch for 10 years - at the time people laughed lol, now they need to resign him again at 35 y/o....

Anyway, it makes me happy that Seymour wasn't mentioned.
I still think he has a vital role when fit.
One more year for him to prove himself IMO.
The games he played after being injured all year were pretty damn good considering his lack of seniors game time.

                  .............

I agree 100% with what you say above , and from looking at the contract they signed with Warfe after 3 injury interupted seasons, as well as some of the sentimental crap on this board, I think that the Swans have had and may well still have a soft under - belly when it comes to player managment. A team that just can't bring it's self to cut the dead wood is sure to go backwards.
Snapper may be the exception to this, but I would prefer to cut hime now after three years of minimal input. By doing this, we will never know if Snapper could make it back from here, but that is much better than keeping him and getting to the end of next year and being dissapointed again !! If that happens he will well and truelly have proved himself a liability ,Cos he will have taken up the spot of a youngster (with minimal out put) for 4 yes 4 years !
No on the balance of it Snapper has had his chance and has got to go. Remeber we are not talking about a super star player here If it was a Goodes or a micky or a Mal Micheal it may well be different. This club does not have the luxury of being a retirment village for players who added dimension to our team 3 to four years ago.
The Swans have acheived nothing yet , and to do what they are trying to do, they will need to become more Ruthless on and off the field.
So all you bleeding hearts please, think of this next time you call for the axe to be speared - You may well be costing us a much required premeirship with an attitude like that .

Exactly, for quite a few years Seymour was one of my favorites.
But if he has to go, then so be it, we all have to live with decisions taht aren't what we want.
But I'd like one more year after a good preseason for him to show us what he has left.

warfe and Nicks had their chances and pissed them away.
If Seymour does the same next year, then bye bye too....

                      Any news yet on delistings?

According to the HS they are due this Friday. To leave it this late must mean some heavy decisions to be made.

Unfortunately there is no Swans news on delistings. The Roos delisted some players today and IMO the only one of interest is mid fielder Dylan Smith. He will surely be picked up by an AFL club as he has ability and is still only 21 years.

I wish some news will come through shortly as I am bored to tears just hearing about Rugby and then even more Rugby.

I feel there is lots of deep thought going on in regards what to do with who and when.

Good idea but I wish they would also let us know if Ball or O'Keefe etc have signed contracts.
                          Love those Swans
