    Another delisting option ?

Would Phillip Read formely of West Coast interest anyone?

    DST

P.S Is it true we delisted Matthew Nicks, if so I find that very strange indeed. Sure we should have tried to trade him but he is worth keeping if we are still going to be paying his last year of his contract

Given that he's a midfielder, he's definitely worth considering, I'd have thought....as would any player who is available. Indeed, I am sure that the coaching staff DO look at everyone available. The next step though is to work out if he fills a gap, or can undertake a role the coaching staff want undertaken. My problem with Read is that if I recall correctly, he has knee problems and has already had a total knee reconstruction...maybe two.
The coaching and medical staff would have to weigh up the pros and cons of this...
For me, I'd consider, but be wary...
"Davis...Davis has kicked 2...he snaps from 40...dont tell me, dont tell me, hes kicked a goal....unbelievable stuff from Nick Davis, can you believe this, he's kicked 3 final quarter goals and Swans are within 3 points..."

Looked like he could really play, until he had 2 knee re-constructions. Might be worth the punt, if we can get him cheaply.

The WC supporters seem disappointed with his de-listing. I think they hope WC will re-draft him.

Why are people mourning the possible loss of Nicks ? Sure he has been a very usful back pocet who provided us with a fair bit of dash when he was at his peak, but the contribution has dwindeled to less than a trickel in the last 2 years (except perhapes for his last game this year). It creates a huge backwash of inertia in a teams psyche, when the dead wood is just left to hang around , taking up energy and the focus of coaches when time coulkd be better spent on the up and comers. It brings down the team.
So on that basis alone i would laude the delistings of Snapper, Warfe, and Nicks.

No thanks. I thought he was servicable for the Coast in say '98 or '99 but I think he is too injury prone and too small and too slow for AFL 2004.

I won't say I am mourning the loss of Nicks, just that when it is all said and done if we are paying him $220,000 not to play next year it is probably more worthwhile that we keep him on the list for another year and see what we can get for him after that.

At this stage I can't see a Father Son pick or draft prospect around that fourth pick that would make it worthwile for us to de list him. Obiviously if they need to room to stick Ray Hall on the list in the pre season draft then that is a different matter entirely.

                Read! No thanks.

Another outside receiver not prone to getting the hard ball. As above too slow for mine. If he was hard at it Worsfold would not have given him up.

                  Anyone you do want Nico?

You've got absolutely no idea why the Eagles have de-listed him. So, you wouldn't take him for nothing in the pre-season draft?

Soft as butter is Read - no way. I'd rather take craig callaghan

                    and maybe even Ray Hall.

i'm not sure how many of you have actually seen Read play but he is anything but soft, apart from having a ferocious attack on the ball, and a great tackler he was the main instigator of the famous Derby brawl a few years back

i probably wouldn't be that keen on him given his history of injury but his 2003 stats were pretty reasonable

Good one ever watch him play?

but the answer is no hes a hot head who is very injury prone.
