    Worst team 1990 - 2003

    Email round the traps for every team's worst ever for the above period. Sydney's is:

    B Dion Myles Darren Holmes Mark Orchard

    HB Wade Chapman Simon Feast Dean McRae

    C Will Sangster Andrew Bomford Sanford Wheeler

    HF Amon Buchanan Stefan Carey Ben Fixter

    F Robert AhMat Ben Wilson Jamie Lawson

    R Gavin Rose Justin Crawford Clinton King

    INT Ricky Mott Matthew AhMat Scott Russell Michael Werner

    This is just outstanding, but I think in all fairness Wade Chapman, Ben Fixter and Amon Buchanan are there under false pretences. Wade was a good player who suffered from injuries, and Fixter & Buchanan haven't had the opportunity to shine (Buchanan never will now!) - more injuries. Dean McRae too is nowhere near as bad as the notables below.....

    IMO, Unlucky to miss are:
    - Shane Fell: Possibly our worst EVER pick if you consider expectation vs results;
    - Ryan O'Connor: I see he made the Essendon list!!
    - John Hutton: made Bris & Freo lists, should have made ours;
    - Nick Daffy: One half of one quarter of football. Well at least Rich paid his way & we got BBBBHall as part of the deal;
    - Stinger: Didn't get on the park as much as Daffy!
    - Gerard Bennett: I don't think we won one game when he played;
    - David Cordner: almost made Fell look good;
    - Jason Love: played his best games AGAINST us;
    - Ricky O'Loughlin: looks like his brother, plays like his mother.

    Leon Higgins & Brett O'Farrell (who I actually quite liked) got into the Hawks, and Troy Gray got into the Saints. Some teams I was in hysterics. For eg, C'wood: Athos HYRISOLAKIS, Andrew TRANQUILLI & Craig JACOTINE.

    Any others?

          You have got to be joking me Wade Chapman & Jamie Lawson made that side!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

          Both could have been anything but for injury, both could sure play great footy when fit and firing. If they are going to include them the name of the side needs to include worst and most injured team.

          Looking over that team again it is obviously complied by a non swans fan, where is Craig Neetlebeck???????

          I think you may have been a little harsh on Jason Love, was a very clever and prolific goal sneak when playing for us in some not too great times.

          As for other names:

          Ed Considine (spelling?)
          Paul Roovrey (spelling?)

            Jamie Lawson is also unlucky, with an injury so severe that it took over two years to heal.

            I think the list is about half right, but I can think of many early 90's players that could compete for a spot.
            Brett Scott - Lumbering hack
            Matthew Ryan - Collingwood reject
            Michael Phyland - Lanky skilless hack

            Robbie Kerr - current players assoc dude
            Michael Kennedy & Warren McKenzie- Carlton rejects
            Justin Clarkson - Melbourne hack
            Mark Athorn - Fitzroy/Carlton reject
            Stuart Wigney - Footscray overweight CHF
            Ed Considine - Essendon reject

              Lawson's injury was made career-ending through sloppy surgery... He was a VERY good player, and I dare say might have even become our captain after Kel retired... he's 32 now I think.

              By the way, Orchard doesn't belong in this team either. I thought he was quite good for us in 97-98... his problem was that he went back to Collingwood.

                  I agree, this really lacks insight. Chapman got us into a GF, and Lawson was a star. Jason Love topped our goalkicking in 1991 with 52 (?). Dean Macrae was more than useful but suffered from playing in a very weak side. Orchard, Ah Mat, Mott and Fixter come nowhere near our worst 22.

                  Where is Jayson Daniels? I agree re Shane Fell and Hutton. Hutton was very uninspiring, then he played with Freo in their first season and kicked 6 on us.

                  Incidentally, Considine is spelt correctly, Roovrey is spelt Rouvray if spelling is truly an issue.

                    Brett Scott was a pretty handy centreman as I remember, he probably didn't get too many opportunities because G Williams played in the middle.

                      How about, in the lumbering big man department, Brent Green?

                      Actually I seem to remember him kicking 3 goals or so in one of the few games he played for us.

                        Bit rough on Darren Holmes, he probably put on one of the best tackles I've ever seen in footy...on a pig.

                            I'll go with those that should not be on the list IMO

                            Jamie Lawson - stupid one to pick, he was coming into his best footy when that horrible injury occured

                            Wade Chapman - actually perhaps he should be on the list. He was a stupid footballer. There is courage, then there's stupidity, he couldn't distinguish between them and paid for it with any chance of really making it.

                            Mark Orchard - I thought he played well for the Swans. From memory, the only reason he was traded was because he wanted to go home.

                            Amon Buchanan - you could add any young player who was delisted. He could make it at another club. There should be a inimum playing age requirement for this list - say 25.

                            Ben Fixter - haha, what's he doing here?

                            Robbie Ahmat - had his moments

                            Ricky Mott - OK he left in an ugly way, but was a star for that one season IMO
                            The difference between insanity and genius is measured only in success.

                              Also in the late 80s early 90s didn't Swans draft a ruckman, who was also a basketballer from Adelaide, I can't remember his name.
