    The Draft

Does anyone on this board have any idea who we are likley to pick up ?
What (if any ) are our draft proclivities, of recent years . EG, do we go for smokies late (or like Brisbane with Jarrard Brennan, Try to find somthing others have overlooked??).
Will we be after midfeilders in our early pick/s or defenders ??
What about NSW and Local Sydney boys ??
Will we pick up any Father /Son draftees.
Anyone with opinion or knowlage please fill me in I am facinated !

Brennan was taken at no 3 in the draft - behind only Goddard and Wells - so he was hardly "somthing (sic) others have overlooked".

If there were any FS picks we'd know about them by now, so you can count that option out.

I believe we will only use 4 of our 5 picks so we have a pick in the pre season draft to use on Ray Hall.

No Father/Son pick up this year

Talk has been of us going after either the best available midfielder at out First pick or going for a tall defender such as a Gayfer or Johnson. I would like us to go after the tall defender because its an area we need to improve on depth wise. But it wouldn't surprise me if the club is looking to use the pick for a midfielder. Regardless of when we will pick up a tall defender.

Of the NSW boys we might pick one up with our 4th pick, otherwise the rookie draft is where we'll pick up NSW/ACT kids. The best kid from NSW - David Trotter should be available at our first pick, but I doubt he'll be taken by us as I believe he is a mid to late 2nd Round Pick, so if available at our 2nd pick we'll take him. Other than that the NSW kids are a real lottery this year.

I'll do a phantom draft during the week

David Trotter would go before 20th pick. Given our recent preference for local players, he could be the player we pick up with our first pick. If it is not him, I would expect our first pick to be a tall player. Apparently some "rated" talls should still be available around our first pick. After 20th pick, I understood that it will be very blurred and a lot of unexpected names will be called.

BTW, Richmond must add about 10 players from this draft, with majority of them would be after pick 70th. Dont know why they choose to follow this way. Adding about 6-8 players which are rated 70th+ in any year is a bad list management.

          Draft choices

The club has a wishlist of a key position backman, midfield, utility, a key tall. With first pick 16 they might pick up Chris Stewart, Will Gayfer (Corowa), David Mundy (Seymour). The midfielder could be Trotter from Lockhart 185, 77kg. He's a forward rather than a midfilder. James Bartel and Marc Bloom from Wodonga are possibilities. NSW boys who are possibilities for draft or rookie list are Nick Potter (Pennant Hills), Shaun Daly (Corowa-Rutherglen), Luke Taylor (Lavington) or Kyle Archibald (Ungarie). A darkie might be Brad Cross from Pennant Hills.

Well.... , I just meant that I had heard that it was considerd a surprise when Brisbane took him ahead of some others who were still availiable at that stage (including Shammer). Brennan was not widley tipped to go in the first 5 picks, apparently.

That would be great Robbie, I would be very interested in a phantom draft here on RWO.

I'm working on it now, so it should be up tonight. Every pick in the draft will be done, as well each player will have a profile.
