Ricky Barham's thoughts on developing young players

According to Ricky the young recruits seem to have the same problems as jockeys .

Sydney recruiting manager Rick Barham said most players drafted by the Swans were given a full year to settle before being pressured to perform.

"At Sydney, we don't care about the first year. Generally everyone is relocated from interstate, we see it as a settling-in year and put no real pressure, no real onus initially," Barham said.

"We try to fit them into a culture. They have enough to worry about -- leaving home, education, footy, new house, new people, away from family and friends.

"They're 17 -- the balls haven't dropped on half of them."

Ah makes you look at the youngsters in our annual our practice match against Essendon in a completely different light.

The bulge in their shorts is now obviuolsy directly proportionate to their chances of playing that season.

Must say that looking back my mate did say that Micklejohn was hung like a donkey.

that is an incident I had forgotten all about, and it is very childish but that made me giggle

I am enjoying a script of panadein forte atm though
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time
