    Club song

What does everyone think of the club song?

Of course there's nothing I'd rather hear being sung after a big win, but I just feel that our song is so generic, it's almost like "insert colours here" and "insert name of team here" and could just as easily be adopted by any club in the league. I don't know much about the history of the song as far as it relates to the Swans, I think it's the Notre Dame theme? (correct me if I'm wrong).

My favourite club song is the Lions', because it makes reference to their history with Fitzroy and the Bears, and has a few little puns eg. "hear our mighty roar". And the tune (French national anthem) is probably one of the most stirring themes ever.

Almost all the footy club songs are lame and daggy. It's tradition!

It's definitely not the most inspiring club song (IMHO that goes to Richmond with 40,000 ferals yelling "YELLOW & BLACK"), but its OUR club song, and I wouldn't change it for the world!

      I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

i happen to love our club song! it almost always gives me goosebumps when im belting our the lyrics when the players run through the banner.

would you rather our song sound like hawthorn's or collingwood's, which are sooo slow and dull. or what about freo's "heave ho"?? omg, that has got to be the worst song in the league..

with port's one not far behind.. "we'll never stop stop stop til we're top top top..." sounds like thomas the tank engine "i know i can, i know i can"..

i agree with mike_b re richmond..

I reckon the Richmond song is the best too. But I love our song, so much history/tradition goes with it. There's nothing better than singing cheer, cheer the red and the white, after a win. I remember when they used to play the "Up there for Sydney" song, all us Melbourne based supporters were ropable.

Our current song's fine, but we do need more variety, including "Up there for Sydney" (sorry plugger). I even used to like Al Jolson's "Swannie". If we had 4 or 5 songs we could keep a chant going all game long.

Well at least our boys seem to enjoy singing our song, and I suppose the most important criteria for choosing a club song is that it can be belted out by a bunch of out-of-tune blokes without too much damage. Some other teams with really lame songs, like Port, look embarrassed singing theirs (or maybe it's their voices they're embarrassed about).

The only reason our song bothers me is that it's not just ours, it belongs to other teams of all different sports all over the world. You always hear it in movies being played at some pep rally or high school football game. But it's always a great feeling being at the game singing the victory song, and I always join in with gusto.

                Personally, I wouldn't mind a new song.

The current one is ok, but I can't see any reason for not adopting a new song if a great one came along.

                Just my opinion...

the current song is perfectly fine and I would hate to see it changed

and yes, Richmond do have the best

For God's sake never goto a SANFL game involving Port Adelaide, it will put you off it forever.

Cheer, cheer the black and the white, honour the magpie day and by night.

                          argh.

Dont touch a classic, although 'up there for Sydney' at pre-game and after goals etc would be nice

Have to say I don't mind the club song, but as you say it is used by other clubs. Went to the WAFL GF the other year and South Freo had "cheer cheer the blue & white" and their kit looked not dissimilar to the Roo's.
Can't agree with the rubbish said about Richmond having the best song as I don't even recollect hearing it...and their fans must be colour blind as their team colours are black and yellow (not the other way round), just because fans sing the song passionately doesn't make it good.
                              Bring it on!
