    - Tony Begovich - One very ordinary campaigner from West Coast. Didn't get a run in that win against Melbourne, spent the whole day on the bench.
The paper has his stats as one tackle. Hard to do that on the bench?

Yes, we were crap then. But on the up side you could get a seat anywhere you liked at the SCG.

but ambrose won a Sandover medal in recent times in WA ... perhaps the coach & the environmet were more to blame?? He was a 19yo when he came over here.

I've got the game on video, and I remember one of the commentators, after the game said "Begovich didn't get a run, they didn't need him"

Not a player trade so to speak but here goes

Simon Black- National Draft Pick 31 (Draft choice 31 traded by Sydney for Simon Hawking, Brent Green)

I remember thinking Green looked like Dolph Lundgren.

He was fantastic for us Buckenara

He traded pick one to West Coast (Drew Banfield - still playing), for Watters and Begovich- Begovich stayed one year and Watters two.

The Other trade was Werner, Considine and Ambrose for picks 3 (Michael Prior) and about 20 (Scott Cummings).

Having picked up Werner he then went two more mid-sized forwards - (osborne and Hutton) who each lasted a year in Sydney and completely ovelooked Fletcher - who was a sensation for Brisbane.

That was after he got nothing for Mitchell who went in the draft.

Quality stuff there - thanks god those days are gone

At the same time the Bears were drafting quality kids like Leppitsch

                  Oh Reggi,

Why do you have to keep reminding me how @@@@ing bad Buckenara was.

I absolutely piss myself laughing when I see him in the Hawthorn box these days.

Buckenara's legacy meant that it took a super coach (Barassi) a super player (Lockett) and a super recruiter (Ron Joseph) to dig us out of the hole he had got us in.

Hawthorn can have him. For our sakes we can only hope that Schwabbie gets sacked mid season and out of desperation they appoint Bucky. Hawthorn will then be known as the "bye" and we can line up to trade Matty Nicks for Shane Crawford.

I thought Buckarena got the lemonade at the end of the season.

The biggest hoot was Bucky being an expert comments man on WA radio. Must have had photos of someone.

Would have to go down as the worst coach of all time.
We are still trying to work out his game plan and his fitness regime was second to none. Even Kelly was unfit.

Tuddy, now there was another very ordinary coach. If I remember correctly he was done for receiving a load of stolen tyres while he was our coach, or thereabouts.

While on ordinary coaches, Ricky Quade is right up there with them. Like Bucky he had NFI what a game plan was. We used to marvel at some of his hair brained moves.

Throw Graeme John in there also. Went to watch the bloods train one night only to find out they had only done a few laps and in they went. Decided to give the boys a "light" night. Played the Hawks at the Lake Oval on the Saturday and were miles up at half time. They were absolutely wasted when they walked off. Hawks kicked 10 in the 3rd and I don't think we kicked a goal in the 2nd half. Ah, fitness was not high on Johnseys agenda.

Didn't get the job at the AFL because of his coaching. Anyone believe in conspiracy theories.

My favourite Buckenara story is his final weeks training session.the weekend before our blokes were up by heaps against the Bears but got rolled. The team wentout till all hours on the Gold Coast and this pissed Bucky off.

So the next training night it was bucketing down & freezing cold in Sydney and Bucky decided to flog the boys.He told a few senior players they didnt need to train and sent the rest off to that Grass Skiing Hill near Moore Park Golf Course...he made the boys do hill sprints all the way up the hill about 15 times. He then said "whoever wins the next one can go in"..well all the boys strained & busted a gut and the winner was very happy..

But Bucky then said "u didnt go hard enough,go again and this time the winner can go in"..he once again said that the effort wasnt good enough and noone could go in...

He repeated this about 50 more times. Kell had to stop blokes from bashing him on the hill but the best was to come...

He made the players jog to the carpark opposite the SCG and then crawl through the carpark that was now underwater. What he didnt realise was under those puddles was ashphalt & concrete..players were struggling..

By the time the players where in the showers a lot of them realised they had no skin on them from the waste down and a lot of the players were very badly injured(rob Neill was that badly injured he didnt play again that year, it took bARASSI TO go to Neills home to get him to play again)

Anyway the result of all this was the following Sunday at the SCG was a massacre against Essendon and Bucky got the ass that night...

                            Tuddenham,
                            Stewart (although possibly by accident)

                            Buckenara,

That day I remember well. We had Elle McFeast with us, with a group of 200 brought along from Live & Sweaty the Friday before. I was yelling out that Bucky had to be sacked to which she said he shouldn't be.

She was a total bitch all day. The Essendon Grog Squad (one member with "I hate Collingwood" tattoed on his back) were out to cause all sorts of trouble, so she mouthed off at them all.

But then again, we had stirred her up whilst we were out there with the banner. I started up "we want Andrew Denton back" to which she and her Live & Sweaty crew got the ****s at.

Changing the subject, I think Jim Main wrote in his book about how bad Bucky was. He went into the change rooms at half time of a pre-season trial and was shocked when Bucky said "You guys are going to have to do it yourselves" then left the room for ten minutes.

The year after Bucky was sacked by the Swans he took Subiaco from the flag to the wooden spoon in the WAFL.

THE MAN IS A TRUE LEGEND!!!!!!!!
