I'll be honest and say that last years was A LOT better.

My kids we hot and whiney.
There wasn't enough shaded areas provided (unless you sat in the stands), and overall it was a bit boring (for me)

I don't get all starstruck by the players, and really don't have much interest in autographs etc, but IMO they really could do a lot more with the day and do some fun stuff with the payers.

Cyggy blew us off when my kids were waiting for a photo with him, and we decided to go to McDonalds which was air conditioned :lol

I sound like I am bitching, but I'm not.
Just wasn't for me I guess *shrug*

The Vic family day used to be at Luna Park, and my kids looked forward to it for months.

Does anyone know why they changed the venue?

I thought the family day was great, the last one I went to, which was preseason, I was charged $10 to get in then $5 for a sausage! Today was free entry and I think they had free sausages (if you wanted to que) and free softdrink.

It was OK, it was the first one I have been to so I don't have anything else to compare it with.

Yeah it was hot, and the food line was way too long, but the players seemed very approachable and Barry Hall put on a good show letting some kid win a trip to Sydney.

Grubby did a good job of interviewing the important ones and the MC on the day, (I don't know who he was) was pretty entertaining.

I think a lot more people than they ever thought of turned up, they ran out of drinks, registration forms etc, so I think they were a bit overwhelmed.

Arrhh well it got us out into the city for a change, ended up at Vic market afterwards then on to Williamstown Beach, all in all a pretty good day.

It was first held at Luna Park in 1997 and again in 1998. As I understand it, the reason it was dropped for 1999 and even since, was the club felt it was a waste of money (ie it wasn't making the club any money to hold) so they moved it elsewhere and every since its not worth going anymore. At least this year they tried to work it up and be different for once.
                Once was, now elsewhere

it was OK. My nephews enjoyed getting autographs and photos taken. The sausages cost $2 and the queue was huge. I tried to tell Tony Morword that they wouldn't increase the Melbourne membership until they gave us the extra game back. He said it won't happen and maybe we won't have to go to Geelong next year. He wasn't very approachable or friendly and I got the impression that the success of the club in SYDNEY is what concerns them the most - I guess we have to accept it. The players themselves in their speeches all said they love having a lot of support down here at games and that it really helps them on the field. Kennelly was the friendliest player - Paul Williams was signing autographs with one hand and talking on the phone with the other! They seem cautious but confident about next year and are really counting on having Doyle and Fixter on the paddock and having Ball available when it counts. It was hot but it beats being cold and miserable.

I thought it was a good day. All the players were very approachable. Had a word to Morwood, and what he said sounded pretty positive.

Obviously more people turned up than they thought they would get, which is a good thing.

Best turn out of senior players at one of these functions for some time.

All in all, it was basically a free day, and like that famous question asks, What do you expect for nothing??

We found Tony very approachable, of course he was busy and everyone wanted him, he gave AnniSwan his business card and asked us to email our concerns about the lack of combined membership.
Do you realise we haven't played a game in Geelong since 2001, so once in three years is not often (but for me every year would be better) would be nice to only go to Perth every three years!!

If there were two teams in Geelong you might see the Swans there more often Cher
