Both, there is no reason why both can't be in the side together. Might mean Goodes could move into the Ruck-rover position, have one of Doyle and Ball in the Ruck and the other at full forward
    Once was, now elsewhere

Well, Ball is a proven talent. Doyle has more potential long-term.

If it was a fit player to win a match NOW, it'd have to be Ball. If it was a fit player to put in the side to develop for the future, definitely Doyle

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

Both in the side IF fit. The best game that I ever saw Ball play was a few years ago when he was playing in the ruck and drifting across the half back line. He played a kick behind the play and totally dominated the marking contests . This role could be again on the agenda considering our lack of genuine height in the backline.

Doyle to play at full forward or in the pocket with occassional bursts on the ball. IMO , even though Goodes won the Brownlow as a ruckmen he could be the greatest ruck rover of all time if played in that position.
