I'd quibble with some of your allocations but in many ways they're meaningless anyway, with the rotating roles that players fulfill.

But Kennelly is taller than some you've put as tall defenders (eg Matthew Davis); LRT has thus far played far more of his football (at least at senior level) in the forward line than in defence; and some that you've listed as 'outside midfielders' (eg Fozzie, Mathews) are found at the bottom of packs more often than some listed as 'inside midfielders' (eg NOG).

Also, if Schneider and Buchanan are 'small forwards' only, they won't last for long in AFL footy. Both need to be able to play in the midfield. Fortunately I reckon they can - in fact, I'm confident that Schneider will develop into a Paul Williams type player. Buchanan still has a bit to prove because he doesn't seem to have the leg speed (yet).

O'Loughlin is more a medium sized forward - means basically our backup key forwards are our ruckmen - injuries to one or more of them could see us in trouble - especially if Bazza snots someone and earns a holiday
Having said that, LRT looks capable enough up forward - indeed has played up there more than Powell
Apart from my little nit-picking, list looks good Robbie

Lizz first of all, I have to admit that I did leave Schnieder out of the inside midfield group by mistake, so I will go back and fix that. The next point is I have put players in positions that they are likely to play, not ones that they "could" play thus me putting Buchanan down as just a Small forward.

On Kennelly, Lizz in what likelyhood would he be used as a tall defender. Yes he is over 190cm (I think 191cm), but if he isn't going to play his rebounding role out of defence he is more than likely going to line up in the midfield.

On Fosdike and Mathews being in the outside midfield group, I'm happy with them there, Mathews however could be in both groups.

A question Robbie, have you listed the players in what you think is the best order?

this is quite unrelated to your post lizz, however, in a previous thread somebody mentioned that from their recollection LRT had not spent any time in the backline throughout the year, in the 3rd and 4th quarters of the rd 11 game (vs ess) LRT played on hille in the backline. LRT, IMO, did quite well at marking hille, as hille is far from lousy in the forward line, worthy of noting if you are as excited as i am about the prospect of LRT becoming a KP backman...

interesting robbie, youve left out o'keefe out of the midfield completely any particular reason?

Yes, though many are stright forward (once of course you decide under which position you will rate them in

No not really, I just feel that O'Keefe will either play his normal role in the forward line or be on the bench. Unlike most players like him for could/can play in the midfield despite being used mainly in defence or attack, I feel to take him out of the forward line would in some way take away from his game.

Just for you I will do another one. If you don't like it don't look at it, but others might and you have no right to tell them that they can't. I take it your still bitter your hero is no longer.

thanks Robbieando, I feel that some players can be interchaged into and out of list at any time any you have tried to capture your perspective on what and where players can fit.

I feel that most areas have experience and youth, class and delevopment options. Most areas have enough depth to cover the injuries that will occur through the year.

                          Well done by me!

don't really want to get involved in the bitchiness, but I actually found the depth chart interesting.

thanks for putting in the time robbie
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Settle down, Frosty. Robbie is well within his rights to start up this topic and post his thoughts.

If you don't like it, you may like to consider ignoring it.

FWIW Robbie, It's an interesting list you've put together, but I'm not sure what conclusion you can get from it. In most positions, we look great in the top few players, but it does tail off quite sharply to players who are unproven, have very little experience, or haven't shown much in a while.

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....
