    Roos on 3AW

Thinks Sydney lack 'stars' and need a big contribution from many players.

Hopes his rucks can come together - Jason Ball is important and is still hopeful that Doyle will come up.

Thinks his defence is unfairly maligned for a lack of strength

Thought Schauble was sensational in the last half.

Believes Saddington had his career torn apart by injury - has told Saddington that CHB is his position.

Many of Sydney's top players will not play Wizard Cup, nor will he play last year's (2003) draft picks, he expects all from 2002 to play barring injury.

The normal Brisbane Collingwood Port and Adelaide are great sides etc.

You don't ban those who supported your opponent, you make them wallow in their loserdom by covering your victory! You sit them in the front row. You give them a hat! Toby Ziegler

In other words, he's trying to get under everybody's guards again...
    We hate Anthony Rocca
    We hate Shannon Grant too
    We hate scumbag Gaspar
    But Leo WE LOVE YOU!

Sensible, level-headed man. And just occasionally, sneaky!
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

        He seems pretty genuine.

Clinton Grybas and Tony Shaw - the interviewers, opened up with commentary on Sydney's lack of 'stars'.

        Roosy agreed with this.

In many ways he is just being realistic. For us to improve many players need to go up another step. Not that they can't but they need to.

Sydney has always had this lack of Stars tag, hell I remeber being in Adelaide dureing the kelly , Plugger, Roos , cresswell era and certain commentators were saying that then.
I just hope the club and the players can overcome their complex .

You know what, I am starting to get bored and tired of Roos realistic approach to the team.

How about being a little bit more positive again Paul, instead of having that "we are a No-Frills team" attitude.

Anyway if he is playing mind games good luck.

              Tend to agree.
              He wants to be careful.

We don't wanna end up like the Saints who have a permanent 'youth development policy' that really gets them nowhere.

If we don't have any stars, then who the heck is Adam Goodes .
We have others such as BBBH and Micky O...
On top of that we have a couple of future stars who have shown glimpses of their ability in Davis, Kennelly, Schneider and Bolts.

I agree that as a team we need to play well to compete with the best, but at least recognise Goodes for what HE is!
Across the rest of the team we have a consistant level of talent that does need to play to their potential to be top 4.
                Staying ahead of the game...

                  Roos was just on SEN.

                  Dermie was the interviewer

Expects Jared McVeigh to play senior footy - training well.

Wants to stick to his long-term plan from 18 months ago - developing the list. Didn't want to add some short-term prospects (26 -27 Year olds).

Sounds like membership and sponsorship is going well - this has given him the opportunity to be a bit more long-term in his thinking.

Doesn't care about wizard cup - focussed on rnd 1

The way Roosy confronts the media does not really bother me. Its the way he gets the players going that counts. And that is what i reckon is one of his greatest assets. He gives the boys self belief that no other team can manage. The boys know the media is full of crap. As long as there is belief that we can achieve whatever we set our minds on, the boys will go far.
                      - Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in a world they've been given, than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact, it's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration, it's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing!

Yeah I just switched on the radio and they announced Roos would be on after 6 (apparently SEN interviewed Jude last week).

This is a note for people outside Melb that there is now a Sports Entertainment Network radio station (SEN) - it is 80% AFL - even at this time of year.

Dermie actually noted that his demeanour was Roos greatest asset - that whilst he was focussed he wouldn't take it to seriously.

IMO Roosy should ignore everyone else - keep doing what he's doing and be himself.

I was listening when he did the interview and mainlt consisted of them asking Jude what training they did that day (tackling practice with the Roosters) while the rest of the interview was based on questions about Delta. Hardly news worthy.

On SEN itself, I quite enjoy it but there is more than 20% of the other sports when I listen.

Exactly! Everytime Roosy has an interview, the boys are probably listening in and having a good old chuckle at the expense of the media.
