The "no Stars" argument is an interesting one and for the Swans I think Roosy isn't saying that we should buy some or that they will appear on our doorstep asking for the job. His plan way back when was to nurture/create/foster whatever the next stars. Make our own!

First step IMO was Goodesy (like putting the missing spark plug in a new black Merc)

Second Step Jude, Fossy etc (belief)

Third Step Schneiderman (crawling before we walk)

    Etc.

Not only would Roosy like to be well placed by Round 22 2004, he would also like to say that Sydney has several genuine home grown stars.

Here is my prediction of guys that will be part of the AFL's top echelon on players:

    GOODES (there already)
    O'LOUGHLIN (been there for years)
HALL (should be AA this year)
    KENNELLY (Brownlow potential)
DAVIS (large improvements every year, should excel at home)
BOLTON, J (getting smarter as well as more skilful)

Rising Stars who will play a very important part in our 2004:

    SCHNEIDER (should star)
BOLTON, C (hardest worker in the team)
POWELL (the glimpses in 2003 were heartening)
O'KEEFE (has terrific desire to do well)
ROBERTS-THOMPSON (bulk and aggression hold the key)

I could go on with these lists but I have tried to keep them tight. What does eveyone else think?

something the Swans proved last season that rings true in all team sports:

"I'd rather have a championship team than a team of champions."

and Roos is a big part of that!

      Cheers

1116 on the AM band - my dial's been stuck on it the last week and a half

http://www.sen.com.au is their website - no listening via the internet as yet, but they do have it planned for down the track
