At the end of the game (when it matters) Tarrant kicked 5.3 and nearly won the game for Collingwood.

Same thing happened to Schauble a couple of times. Lloyd did the same thing to Schauble in Sydney though the game wasn't in danger.
Point is Saddo showed he is more than capable. We all know that.
Sydney were up by 7-8 goals - in the last quarter and the pressure just wasn't there on the ball coming into Tarrant - no-one would have stopped him.
When the pressure was on he killed Tarrant.
But it is still dissapointing to an extent and was beaten very well in general by the better forwards last year.

Yep, that's right, Tarrant only kicked 5 goals . . . not even a "bag" . . . . after being thrashed for 3 quarters.

And as for saying Tarrant nearly won the game, it would make more sense to say that Saddington keeping him quiet for so long actually did win the game!

ablett - ive always been disappointed in him until the finals, due to him being picked ahead of coughlan, however ive become a believer and i hope to see him break into the side as a regular and become a big contributor... i think he may turn out more handy than coughlan (big call) but ablett has a certain polish about his disposal whereas coughlan, while good at finding the football can waste it a bit IMO, time will tell

barry - tough as nails, love his dash... i hope he doesnt shorten his career by his injuries

craig bolton - love his prospects, great finisher, poise... im glad we snagged him from the lions

jude bolton - in-and-under, what we need, i cant believe that he hasnt copped a major injury yet, still has areas to improve but him and kirk will need to step up to fill the void left by cressa

crouch, mathews - same category really, hard-working defensive midfielders... these two need to be more attacking IMO, possessions dont hurt the opposition enough (except for crouchy's goal against brizzy!)

doyle - im a massive fan of doyle's for the brief glimpses that we have seen and IMO our game can be improved with a few rotations, and the ball-goodes-doyle rotation would be stellar, id like to see, at centre square bounce ups, ball as the ruckman, goodes at HF and doyle at FF, then have goodes run into the square and have him contest the ball around the ground and ball to drop a kick behind play... then switch them all around when one needs a rest... this giving goodes free reign around the ground, a marking target for the rebounding defence in ball and doyle to kick a couple from the square and all vice versa

fixter - small backman, small forward, run-with player, in and under, link man... this is fixter's capabilities, while not achieved yet but quite attainable

We definitely think Ben Fixter is in our best 22 and an extremely important player in our team.

while that seems a throw away line, it is true, he is very important to our team... our centre clearances are a huge issue and i would like to see against good centre clearance teams a combination of kirk, fixter and bolton in the middle at once, simply to get the ball out and headed in our direction, each of those three can get the ball out and as well distribute it as needed

goodes - plenty of improvement left in his legs, if he can improve his contested marking and kicking skills, he will be the best player in the league

hall - 2004 AA CHF, CHF is his spot, he improved where he needed to improve last year and is our second most important player behind goodes, brownlow wouldnt be out of his reach either... he is my pick, this year, for all out stardom

james - surely he is due for some good luck, and if it comes his way, FB will be looked after, meaning schauble will move out to CHB, meaning bolton or sadders can move to a flank, maening kennelly can move to a wing, i would like to see him take the no. 2 defensive spot by the end of this year

kennelly - as NMW stated, wing seems to be his destiny and i cant wait for the back 6 to be sorted out so that kennelly can move up the ground, his delivery into the forward line will be a hallmark of the swans for years to come

kirk - i would like to see kirk move to more a head-to-head role with the opposition's leading clearance man, with fixter looking after the receiver... kirk was so successful in his role last year, so much so that i can say that im currently getting 31 printed on the back of my new IR jersey, couldve anyone predicted that in 2002, i think not... i love kirky's zest for the game and his team mates, i think he emulated the swans of 2003

meiklejohn - oh ye of little faith, once again from "roosy responds":

Amongst the coaching group, there is a feeling that James Meikeljohn is perhaps too short for a ruckman role and needs to be able to play at CHB or CHF. We will be giving him every opportunity to do, as well as continuing to develop him as a ruckman.

have a look at rd 20, watch when voss stays on the ground for a time, watch rd 5, when matched up against jeff white... i have said for a while now that id like him at CHB, and i believe he has the ability to move there, eventually... our next KP backman have to come from LRT, james, JM, dempster and powell (where i think powell is best suited to a BP role)... he is not the greatest cente ruckman going around, as he is too short and cant counter that by jumping high enough, this is where i think a lot of people get the impression that he is "cumbersome and awkward", i think he has the potential

o'keefe - one of my favs, has heart, just needs to find the ball, he is great in the forward line, but needs to break into the midfield IMO

o'loughlin - tragic to hear that we will probably never see magic fully fit unless he takes a year off, however, there is some blessing in that, it forces him to stay close to goal, where he can crumb as well as lead... i think it is a blessing in disguise and he has the ability and now confidence to take on the world

LRT - what an ugly mug, but what a talented one, i see him as our no. 1 defender in years to come...

saddington - has the ability, just needs to work on some fundamentals, has his fair share of knockers on this site... does michael get cained from brizzy supporters coz hall kicked 5 on him, does cloke cop flack from pie supporters coz brown kicked 3 on him in the first quarter, does archer cop a flogging from kanga supporters coz carey kicked 4 on him... some people need to realise that opposition forwards DO kick goals (a funny concept, i know), sometimes theyre unstoppable... the carey - saddington matchup was extremely puzzling from the start and i truely believe that roos was giving saddington a football lesson that day by matching him up on carey, as the obvious matchup was saddington on perrie and schauble on carey

schneider - my fav, my 41 has been traded in for a 13, i would like to see him not kick 30 goals this season due to him being in the midfield more

macleski, mcveigh, thewlis and dempster - cant really comment on any of them, but i like their prospects
