Think you know a bit about the Swans or footy?

... and reckon you can string a few words together, or help out with running RWO?

You can see where I'm going here. This website gets by purely on the efforts of volunteers. We've got a fine band of people contributing news articles, feature articles, match reports etc, making us arguably the definitive Swans fansite on the web. This forum is a big part of that success too, of course!

As I say every year, you can never have enough people contributing to RWO - so this is a general call out to anyone who would like to help out in any way.... whether it's writing articles (on just about any subject involving the swans, footy, AFL in general, Sydney AFL etc!) or match reports, helping to moderate the forums, helping out with web design / coding etc....

Hell, if anyone has any ideas on how we can improve the site... speak up! post a message here, or send me a PM

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

Seems to be running pretty well, missing those inside reports from Lizz though!

Not sure I understand what you're referring to. Nothing I've ever written for RWO has been "inside" in any respect.

If you're referring to the Player of the Week I used to do, I am considering resurrecting this for 2004 - depending on how much energy I have left once Cliff and I have finished churning out this season's player profiles!

I assumed he was referring to training reports.

Given that we only took on the task yesterday I dare say it will be a few weeks before they are all done. In past years we have only posted them when they've all been finished - but then last year we started a good month earlier. Maybe we will start feeding some through onto the board as they are done, but don't expect to see anything for at least a week.

Unfortunately my temporary life as a full-time student ended 15 months ago and I now have to spend my Wednesday afternoons sitting in an office rather than in the sun watching the Swannies train.

Yes, I must confess we're a bit behind the ball this year - at least partially my fault I'm afraid!

I'll see if I can't get the fixture and so on updated at least

I don't in the least mind us running a bit later than usual - you can overdo this preseason stuff.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

of course u can put the late start to preseason down to the appearance in the finals

No one interested in being a big-shot footy journo?

To make it a bit clearer... Perhaps I should list the areas where we're a bit lacking...

                          - Local footy. NSW/Sydney footy is not really reporting on the swans, but I think the success of footy in general in Sydney is important to the success of the swans, and vice versa. We currently don't have anyone writing on any of the local leagues, so if anyone wants to do that - for whatever level then contact us.

                          - Match reports / previews - we have people writing match reports / previews, but more opinions never hurt!

                          - Training reports

                          - Reserves match reports - These would be appreciated by those of us who can't get to canberra, or who can't turn up in time to see the full reserves curtain-raiser game

                          Any other suggestions for articles?

I'll leave writing about the Swans to real Swans fans, but I'd be happy to do a column on the Sydney AFL. Particularly the SAFL Premier Division, maybe every couple of weeks. And maybe some piccies as well.

I don't have the contacts or journalistic skills of Troy G, so if he'd like to make a return to doing his column at any stage he'd be a better option than me.
