Once again MB I am going to quote you and I have to say I am all for it - once it was seen in practice It just grabbed me as the same for most Swans fans judging by comments on here.

If we were forced to have an alternate design, then I would have to go with "mostly white" - I'd rather stick with our existing colours. White guernsey with red V on the front. White back with red numbers. White shorts. Hooped socks.

If it's good enough for Bob Skilton, it's good enough for me.

I might be drifting off topic here a bit though! <br clear="all">
On the shorts, don't read anything into the Black shorts, it use to be the Black shorts had to be worn by ALL home teams and white shorts by ALL away teams. Then came colour TV and clubs then had the right to pick what colour shorts they would wear as the home team, white shorts remained up until a few years ago when the AFL again changed its policy on shorts.
      Once was, now elsewhere

Robbie, I've got to say I'm glad the AFL changed the policy on shorts. I hate the white shorts more than I hated the hooped socks (which I now don't mind) and possibly on par if not more with your and Jules' hatred of the black shorts.

I used to think that too robbie. but now I'm not so sure. I loved the south jumper. still got the one I used to wear as an 8 year old. But the Sydney jumper is very eye catching as well and I'm happy to leave it as is. The SMFC thing is the best thing that could ever happen to the current jumper.
If u don't believe me, I will knock your bloody teeth out and not pay you a cent.

On the old South guernsey it looked fine, even if in a match in 96 in an all-white strip Micky O handpasses to an umpie.

Yeah, when we played Fitzroy/Brisbane and we donned the white shorts (often in conjunction with those funky "world's most magical clown" socks), it was definitely NOT a highlight of the fashion world.

As said b4 not a big change but a very good ackowlegment of our heratige. I was only two when my beloved swans were taken away from Vic but I always love watching old South Melbourne matches on Pay TV and try to learn as much about the clubs history as possible. My family are all very pleased to see the change to the jumper. Well done swans, good move!

It's a very nice gesture by the Swans re: SMFC. It looks good, adds a vintage flavour and will be very popular, particularly for the old South fans.
