Not sure that being concerned over the welfare of your players is "sooky la la".

The AFL knows what the temperature will be out where the game is being played.

    You reckon?

As for the idea of playing 16 a side, the Wiz Cup is meant to be about helping the clubs test out new ideas and prepare for the season ahead. Why should they be forced to compromise and play the incorrect number of players on the ground just because the AFL is being obstinate. What is it to them if they allow an extra two interchange players, anyway?

It's February! Not football season, lets get back to real footy and play it in the Winter!!!

If they are worried by heat they should just take a couple off and play with 16, after all its only a practice match.

And the up to date weather report is for rain so maybe it won't be as bad, as predicted a week ago!

I was out in the west today because i had umpiring duties, my cricket team had the bye, and it was friggin hot mate. If a cool, strong breeze did not strike late in the arvo, i was gone. If there is not an extra 2 allowed the AFL is kidding themselves, these temperatures over the last fortnight have been unbearable and arent exactly suitable for footy, especially a pre season comp.

Impossible is not a fact, it's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration, it's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing!

Highish temperatures and rain, great recipe for HIGH HIGH humidity, glad it's them and not me.

30 temps in Sydney are not like 30's in Melbourne, the humidity is unbarable, not dry like Melbourne.

IMHO if any of these Wizard Cups are played outside of Melbourne they should be played at night, not in the heat of the day.

What's with this idea of playing 16 a side? That would make it even more running. LOL

Anyway, the important stuff starts in 4-5 weeks just hope the kids show something tomorrow.

PS. After seeing bits of the Eagle's and Docker's games, I hope some of our kids have been on the same weight programs.

What's in the water in WA? LOL

Sorry, but I am not going to blindly cry 'persecuted' just because things didn't go Paul's way.

I think the AFL as pretty fair as a general rule (look at the outcome of the salasy cap concessions this week).
YES they are ignorant. They said "forecast only 29C in Sydney". Yes Sydney's forecast is 29. Homebush Bay is not Sydney. Example - yesterday: Sydney 36C. Homebush Olympic Park 39C. Penrith 45C. Richmond 43C SOURCE

However, fortunately the problem has not eventuated. As at 2pm: Sydney Olympic Park 24.7C Humidity 61% SOURCE. This doesn't mean the AFL was right, as the official forecast issued at 11.43am TODAY says 29C Sydney and 33 in the west SOURCE. For those not knowing Sydney very well, the Liverpool/Parramatta temperatures cover everything west of about Marrickville. It can often be 29 in the city/coast and be 35 from Canterbury outwards (including Homebush Bay) as the cooling sea breeze (and therefore cooler air temp) doesn't reach that far.

One day clubs will deliberately throw a Wizard Cup match (in Round 1) by playing a 3rd-string side (like some NRL clubs did in the Sevens).
