    Roos plays down Wizard aftershock

Paul Roos believes Sydney?s 102-point loss to Carlton in week one of the Wizard Home Loans Cup last week will have no any effect of the clubs membership or support base.

?I don?t think (pre-season results) has any bearing on what happens in round one or what happens in beyond,? Roos said.

?It can have a little bit of bearing for teams that have come off an average year like a Carlton for their membership because I think they?re the teams that are looking for a natural improvement, an early improvement and looking at their players.

?But I think the Swans fans are smart enough to understand and certainly the ones that went out there (to Telstra Stadium) or do a bit of research as what our team looked like on the weekend. I do not think it will have any effect at all.?

Sydney went into the match without several first choice senior players and another 10 who are yet to make their AFL debut, so Roos refuses to get carried away with the result.

?You have to be careful when dissecting the game. It?s hard to assess the senior players because they are playing with a lot of kids; it?s hard to assess the third and fourth year players because you are asking them to be the better players.

?It?s frustrating more than anything else that you know you have to go into the (Wizard Cup) competition a bit under-done and? you want to win but there is a certain form of relief that you are out of the competition.

?Now and you can use the runners properly, you can play under the proper rules so now your preparation starts from this week and then you have got two other weeks to get the rest of your group back.?

After the match Roos said he was most disappointed with the lack of effort and admitted it will be the main area of focus against Collingwood in the Wizard Regional Challenge clash at McHale Stadium on Saturday.

?We haven?t spoken about game plan or those sorts of things; what we want to get right is make sure our intensity is up regardless of whether you have young kids or anything like that,? Roos said.

?We are not worried about the scoreline;, the only thing we really spoke about post-game was making sure every time we come to play we are ready to play.?

Sydney expects to welcome back Paul Williams, Jude Bolton, Leo Barry, Tadhg Kennelly, Nick Davis and Jared Crouch for the clash.

Was on radio last night. Really does not want to play in Alice Springs the following week. Not sure whether it is a consequence of winning or losing. Didn't sound too concerned about our form. Hoping that our accuracy in front of goal can continue.
