    Just rang Optus Oval

and the whole ground will be open for the match today, someone mentioned to me that they may not open the Legends stand but it seems they will.

I'll probably be sitting behind the goals at the Legend Stand end.

Yeah...and I will probably be sitting at my desk at the office...or standing in a packed train on the way home

Whilst its great that we Melbourne supporters are getting some games pre-season, I still can't see the logic in a 4pm Friday start.

If it was a 5pm start...I would probably turn up for the second 1/2.

I look forward to match reports from those who managed to get there

My boss is actually a swans supporter..up in Sydney...so I might get away with it

But unfortunately my clients wont accept not getting their work done

And unfortunately I am on the Lilydale line...so I guess I will have to talk to myself

what's the lighting like at OO?? being from Sydney and only ever driving past the ground previously I don't know. If the lighting is bad then they'd need to have the game finished before it gets dark hence start it early.

could this be one reason and the other being the F1 GP this weekend?

I agree it's probably not the best timing due to work commitments etc, I've just been wondering myself if these are the reasons behind it.

They could have easily started at 5pm, it is still quite light here at 7.30 at least. It gets darker in Melbourne about 30 minutes later than Sydney.

I don't know if OO has lights!

BTW, If I see Tony Morwood at the ground I will ask him why it was scheduled for 4pm.

Perhaps so the boys can get a 9.00 flight home

OO does have lights IIRC, but I don't think they're good enough for a game - more for practice.

I would have thought they could start at 5pm and be finished by 7.45pm, which is still light enough, particularly with a little help from the lights.

Rebecca from the Melbourne office told me that the time was the AFL's decision and not the clubs.

Glad I didn't make my way to the goals behind the legends stand, I would have been very lonely.

You could have talked to me and my mother - we were the only Swans supporters there. There were only about a dozen people overall. It was actually very interesting as you could hear everything the players said to each other. I didn't realise they yelled so much. Schauble was organising the backline.
