    Malceski - bad news

Unfortunately it seems Malceski did his ACL playing in Canberra at the weekend and goes in for a reconstruction next week.

(Announced at this evening's Pre-Season Dinner).

Very sad news for a player we were hoping to see emerge this year.

yeah he was on crutches at the dinner, and the gasp at the announcement from the people sitting around our table was quite audible. Such sad news..

Had a chat to him when he was about to leave and he was obviously down. Seems to have a good head on those shoulders so hopefully he'll come back and show em he can really play.

Yeah it is the 12 month thingy. He did seem down. But the club announced they will work with him and had spoken to him that afternoon and needed him so I hope once he starts his recovery all will be okay - really sad - one player looking good too.
        Love those Swans

          Malceski's season-ending injury
          March 16, 2004

EMERGING Sydney midfielder Nick Malceski suffered a season-ending knee injury in Saturday's practice game against Essendon in Newcastle.

Tests revealed Malceski, 19, ruptured ligaments in his left knee.

The damage was done in the fourth quarter when Malceski changed direction to avoid collision with an opposition player and his knee buckled.

He will see a surgeon this week to determine treatment.

Drafted in 2002, Malceski played a full campaign with the reserves last season, as well as Wizard Cup games with the senior squad, and was knocking on the door of selection to make his AFL debut this year.

Meanwhile, ruckman Stephen Doyle (right knee) is available for selection in this weekend's reserves match.

A venue for the game is yet to be decided as the Swans training ground, Lakeside Oval, is considered unsuitable and senior players could risk injury on the uneven, hard surface.

Was the injury in ACT or Newcastle - I dont recall seeing him at Newcastle...?

Doesn't matter - his season is over - poor bugger - I had hoped that he would get a game or 2....

            One for the future?

Bad luck - get well and come back better!

Well, that IS bad news. Hopefully he recovers ok - liked his work in the twos.

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

They told us last night it happened in Canberra - consistent with you not seeing him in Newcastle. Journo just got it wrong by the look of it.

I'm not game to choose another love child now! I'm scared I might have jinxed him!

I've only ever heard Roosy singing his praises. He'll make it.

You cannot just abandon your Love-child because of injury - tis when they need special care!

I've emailed a few over the years - Ryan Fitzgerald wrote a very nice reply after doing a shoulder

                        damn shame about macleski, however...

                        the above news is GREAT...

it seems of regular senior players, only schneider, schauble and fixter would be under a cloud, with schneider being touch and go... thats tops!

Ah ha! Here I was thinking that Love Child status required them to be playing!

BTW, I'm intrigued by your sig... what exactly do you mean?

Post Modernism is a concept I gues that is more associated with art and literature.

But it infers - pastiche - discontinuity - un-related ideas - fragmantation - the end of previously concieved concepts.

It was my comment on the Ben Mathews / Factions thread.

This football club does not have a 'normal' easily definable culture
