    Cressa comeback?

    Boots stay off

    Tuesday March 16
    Geelong Advertiser - JAY CLARK

ANY hope Cats' assistant coach Daryn Cresswell may have had of making a comeback to football with GFL club North Shore was quashed yesterday by Geelong football manager Garry Davidson.

Davidson put an end to the rumour sweeping local football circles, saying that the 1997 All-Australian midfielder would be too busy with his coaching commitments to pull the boots back on.

``He won't be doing that (playing),'' Davidson said yesterday.

``Considering he will be at VFL and AFL games he would find it very difficult.''

Cresswell was unable to be contacted yesterday, but the word was that the 263-game veteran was considering re-joining former teammate Wade Chapman and making a comeback with North Shore.

Seagulls' coach Glenn Keast said yesterday that he had not discussed the issue with Cresswell but extended an open invitation to the 32-year-old.

``If he rang up and said he wanted a game we would welcome him with open arms,'' Keast said.

``He is pretty good mates with Wade Chapman and I played with him for a year when he was at Geelong but I have not talked to him about it,'' Keast said.

``He is obviously tied up with his commitments at Geelong so I think it's more of a rumour than anything else.''

Cresswell was named in Sydney's team of the century after joining the Swans in 1992 following a brief stint with Geelong.

When did Cressa get our games record?

    263?

Didn't know Chappy was playing though. He and Jamie Lawson are losses that I think we're still feeling after all these years.

We would of won a premiership if Lawson didn't brake his leg, I'm sure of that. Charlie 263 might mean games overall including pre season matches, state matches and international matches.
      Once was, now elsewhere
