    New Injury List

Seeing as (rather pathetically) there is no injury list update this week we'll have to do it our selves....so taking last week's which was...

    Stephen Doyle Knee 1 week
Ben Fixter Hamstring strain v Collingwood 3 weeks
    Ben Mathews Ankle 1 week
    Michael O'Loughlin Knee 1-week
    Andrew Schauble Hamstring Reassess
Adam Schneider Hamstring v Carlton 2 weeks
    Tim Schmidt Calf strain Test
    Rowan Warfe Hip Rehabilitating

    We can factor in that O'Loughlin and Mathews played last week and Schmidt and Doyle are playing this week (even though Roosey says he's not considering Doyle for Rd 1) so our injury list looks like this;

    Doyle............... Not match fit..... Available
    Schneider........... Hamstring........ One week
    Fixter.................. Hamstring........ Two weeks
    Schauble.............. Hamstring......... Four weeks
    Warfe................. Hip................... Indefinite
    Malceski.............. Knee................. Season

Players playing this week are Jason Ball, Matthew Davis, Sean Dempster, Stephen Doyle, Andrew Ericksen, Ben Mathews, Michael O'Loughlin, Mark Powell, Lewis Roberts-Thomson, Tim Schmidt, Jarrad Sundqvist, Josh Thewlis.

I'm wondering why McGlone and Willoughby aren't playing this week, though (unless rookies don't get listed in the who's playing this weekend list). Sunny gets a chance to show some form. Ablett, McVeigh given a rest. LRT needs a bit more form and might be fighting with Powell for a spot. Meiklejohn not playing either. Is he being rested for Rd 1 or is he not being considered? James gets a rest, too.

Great to see Thewlis running around again.

Gee Sharpie, you are a brave man in assuming there is any logic in the Swans injury list from week to week!

There are 12 players listed. May be the rule stated that we could have no more than 12 senior listed players playing in any match. It was certainly the case with the Port Melbourne arrangement.

As I understand it, this is meant to be a weekend off for players before the season proper starts, and therefore the "default" is that they don't play. Clubs are allowed to apply for special permission to give those players who have had little pre-season game time a chance for one more run to get match fitness.

Players like Doyle, Magic, Ball clearly fit into the category of having had little game time, although there are a few others on that list whose qualification under this criterion seems a little dubious (eg LRT, Sunny)
