But work it out, how many Swans players would have a reason to be in South Australia coming out of Heaven NightClub. (Let me guess, the expat South Australians!?)

As soon as I heard it was Burgoyne, I pretty much knew who the other player involved would have been.

I too feel sick in the stomach over all of this.

The cost of a defending a civil case would be significant. Each of 3 players would have had their own lawyers. Plus there would have been time off the job, plus publicity. You can understand why someone would think it easier to make a payment to close the whole thing down.

Given that there appears to be no indication at all that our player was involved in the alleged rape ... if there was the slightest evidence of this, surely the police would have spoken to him ... I think that the media is being totally irresponsible in sensationalising the Swan player's involvement.

And I don't think us putting his name on this thread does anyone any good. Could a moderator please remove it. If the Club and player involved wished for this to be public, then they would have done so. We are supporters of the Club, we should support them in this.

This is not the same as the situation with the pitbulls. The police have questioned the whole team and are focusing on the players involved. In our case, the police saw no reason to question our player.

If either yourself or damien can't work it out, then I suggest you don't follow the swans players and lists too carefully. Nor do you understand the facts of the case (nor do I). Current player making the payment... yes (reportedly). Previously listed player being near the altercation... perhaps. I'm not going to make it any clearer than that.

edit: on a side note, I too have chipped in to settle a civil dispute with our local cricket club and a household neighbouring our club ground. Does that make me a criminal too? In your eyes, yes. pfft.

          I disagree.
What's the difference to anming a name and posting a link to a Bombers board where he is named?

That is why this thread is so long, because people want to know.
Let everyone know, and then delete it all.

It's out in the open, people can now move on.
