    Rebecca Wilson & Sunday Telegraph

Anyone notice the the story in the today's Sunday Telegraph in Wilson's gossip coloum regarding a Swans player abusing a City Rail attendant at Circular Quay station? For those of you who haven't seen it, this is what she wrote:

The NRL has copped a bucketing over player behaviour but the Swans aren't all angels. One player abused CityRail staff at Circular Quay last week. "I told you I haven't got a ticket," he shouted. He was politely told he would face a fine if he didn't pay his fare. "You can go and ---- yourselves," he said.

It seems Ms Wilson gets her info from fake emails sent in by RL supporters, namely Choppies on the League Unlimited Forum:

    Ms Wilson

I know your a sport/gossip coloumist and I thought that this would interest you
When I got off the Train at Circular Quay with my friend (who is an AFL supporter) spotted someone called **** who plays for the Swans and as we put our tickets in the machine to let us through and walked for a few seconds we heard shouting so we turned round and there was the AFL player saying he had lost his ticket and he got louder causing a bit of a scene and when he was told he would get a fine for not having a ticket he told all the city rail to @@@@ themselvs

well just thought you would want to know

THAT WAS MY EMAIL TO HER

Will she be making an apology on 110% Tony Squires tomorrow night? Me thinks not

Living in Melbourne - except for the Rape case, you'd hardly know RL exists - its just a non event - I guess rightly or wrongly it's viewed in Melb as a dying sport - not worth paying attention too.

But reading that site, if that is the view amongst RL fans that explains why this erroneous accusation has been made, seeing as it is what they wanted to hear.

If they sucked Rebecca Wilson in, more fool her, reprinting stuff from emails wouldn't seem sensible.

I read that this morning and was reminded (not that I needed it) of how much I hate that broad.

Might be an idea to e-mail the Sun Herald's sports gossip column "The Last Word" and let them know how Ms. Wilson collects her stories.

He would be sure to put a little snippet in next week embarrasing her.

Lets talk about angels and here's a scoop that is indeed FACT no FICTION:

Rebecca Wilson was charged with DUI in 2003! What an angel.

Gotta admit, that was bloddy funny. A nothing story even if it was true. These journos are desperate for anything anti-AFL/NRL at the moment

There has already been emails sent to Media Watch regarding this Gibberer and her printing of made up stories.

The purpose of the emailing the story to her was out of curiousity as to just where she gets her "information" from.

By printing this story she has shown everyone in the know that she truly is an idiot. Not that I ever had any doubt about that fact.

In an aside, can someone please lock Beaussie up, they seem to have escaped from the asylum again.

See "Stay In Touch" in today's (Friday 26/3) SMH.

It repeats the story above and finishes ....

"Wilson told Spike she also got a follow up phone call from a "CityRail employee" and called back, confirming it was a CityRail number. Such dirty tricks didn't surprise her, she said, given that she receives up to 50 abusive emails a day from Bulldogs fans.

Since the rumour was published, Swans fans have spotted the trick and gossiped about it on their own fans forum. The club's media manager, tephen Brasset, said they'd been unable to locate the culprit around the club "and now we know why"."

Does anyone else think that the bogus email was a remarkably stupid thing to do? Just after Magic disappears off the front pages for re-heated rumours, Australia's largest selling newspaper falsely reports that a Swans player is an ill-mannered oaf. The relatively small number in the Stay in Touch readership won't balance the overall negative view of Swans players that has been created.

That's a great way to make sure the players are 100% concentrating on taking on Brisbane.

Why not go for the hat trick and start a rumour about the Swans getting drunk and misbehaving on their flight to Brisbane? Then we'll see how mentally tough they are.

Are Rebecca and Caroline Wilson sisters? They both spew crap into a paper and know nothing about sport.

Of course it was a remarkably stupid thing to do. What else would you expect for a RL fan trying to deflect negative attention away from the NRL.
