    Team vs Brisbane

I would have thought it would resemble the following:

    ---------------------------------------------

    FB: James C.Bolton Mathews
    HB: Barry Saddington Kennelly
    C: Crouch Williams Maxfield
    HF: Goodes Hall N.Davis
    FF: O'Keefe O'Loughlin Doyle

    R: Ball J.Bolton Kirk

    I: Fosdike Roberts-Thomson Sundqvist McVeigh

    E: Powell Buchanan Ablett

    ---------------------------------------------

Mathews will depend on fitness but recent comments suggest he is OK - may be needed if Crouch plays in the midfield on Akermanis.

James and Rogers are competing for the one spot - Rogers unlucky on PS form but IMO James is the better option for now.

Doyle tends to be rushed back, and given he was in the reserves' best last week I would imagine he'll play.

Sundqvist was apparently BOG in that reserves game so he'd most likely sneak in on that basis.

Powell also unlucky, but I would have thought he and LRT are also competing for the one spot, and seemingly LRT proved his fitness last week by being in the best.

I put McVeigh in but perhaps Buchanan will be looked at given the absence of Schneider.

doyle has already been ruled out of contention, they want him to play at least 3 practice games first, so i would suggest that powell would be in instead of doyle, as doyle would only being playing forward anyway, LRT used as third-string ruck

They used to rush Doyle back but I got the feeling that they will be conservative this time and give Doyle some ample game time in the reserve to get himself up.

Swap Powell for Doyle and I am quite contented with the selection.

Why Sundqvist over Ablett? I would have thought Ablett would be preferred over Sundqvist after his finals appearances last year.

Yeah but if they'd applied that thinking in the past he'd just have got injured in the reserves and would still be yet to debut in the seniors

On Ablett from what I've seen his PS form has been quite underwhelming - I'm actually a supporter of his but I can't find a spot for him at the moment.

                James LRT Saddington

                Williams Rogers Barry

                Maxfield Fosdike Kennelly

                McVeigh Hall Davis

                Okeefe O'Loughlin Ball

                R: Goodes, Kirk, J.Bolton

Int: Crouch, Bolton C , Powell, Mathews

E: Sean Dempster,Luke Ablett, Josh Thewlis.

The young backliners(James,LRT & Rogers) will take experience away from the game, if Leppa plays Saddo will be his man, Pike playing chf would be taken by BoltonC.

I know some people will argue with this team, but I feel if theres an opportunity for Rogers etc to gain match experience then they should be given it.

Bolton and Mathews on the bench with that inexperienced backline...?!?!?

Also, could you make the full back line any taller!?!?!

                  You also omitted Crouch!!

I knew I had made some mistakes, Bolton and Mathews are on the bench at the start, they can be rotated on, I completely forgot about Crouch though will go back and edit it.

Not sure if its wise playing Ball, Goodes, LRT, Doyle in the one team.

Reports are that Rogers and Bevan are strong chances to make the team. I hope Powell also makes the cut.

Surely with a need to develop our backline you would have to put in Rogers before Sunquist.

Crouch and Fisdike will both both start.

Because Ablett has let himself down with his form during the pre season matches. On that note, from what I saw of Sundqvist I wouldn't pick him either. Doyle won't play. Therefore my team is such:

B: Jason Saddington Aaron Rogers Heath James
HB: Tadhg Kennelly Craig Bolton Leo Barry
C: Jared Crouch Paul Williams Stuart Maxfield (c)
HF: Nick Davis Barry Hall Nic Fosdike
                            F: Michael O'Loughlin Jason Ball Ryan O'Keefe
R: Adam Goodes Jude Bolton Brett Kirk
Int: Lewis Roberts-Thomson Jarrad McVeigh Mark Powell Ben Mathews
Em: Paul Bevan Luke Ablett Jarrad Sundqvist

Ball will play forward most of the match because he still needs to build his fitness, Mathews will play off the bench because of his limited build up and Powell seems to have done enough to get back in the side. Rogers and McVeigh will make their AFL debut's. The back line I named is pretty strong considering Schauble isn't playing, but with Lynch now out I would give Rogers the full back spot and allow Saddo and C.Bolton a chance to play in what will be their normal positions.

Heath James seems to have done enough to play and the rest of the midfield speaks for itself. Kirk will get Black and Crouch will get Akermanis. Its a good sign that we have a solid looking side with players such as Schauble, Doyle, Schneider and Fixter to come back in future weeks.

I actually think that's where he will spend a lot of his remaining time.
