There is a difference between Big Men and men putting on wieght.

    Brisbane have big bodied men.

Not too long ago the vogue was to put on muscle alah West Coast. For many it didn't work because it took the edge off their pace. Maxfield was one of the victims of this syndrome.

You are what you are, and in many cases it is a waste of time trying to make a silk purse out of a sows ear. The best for our game is a blend of speed, with the correct sized body for the players measurements. If that makes sense.

They will need to cover 3 of our talls too: Hall, O'Loughlin and Goodes/Powell/LRT (my guess is that Roos will rotate these three to have one extra tall up forward).

It will come down to the question of which one would be more damaging.

Rogers is no match for Lynch strength. None in our team would be for that matter.
      You missed the point.

Rogers should be included as a back up so that we can try something different if the original match ups fail.

I never said Rogers could match Lynch for strength. However I do believe Rogers would be a good second option especially taking into account he would be stronger than Saddo, Powell and probably James, LRT and Bolton.

Michael get's lost wide of the 50 arch. If they play Michael on Hall, expect BBBH to roam far and wide ;-)

Bevan was given his chance because Kennelly got injured. If the injury didnt happen, who do you suggest should have made way for Rogers to play? You argument is essentially flawed, simply because Kennelly would not have been dropped for Rogers. Kennelly would never have been asked to play on Lynch or Leppitsch or Charman, so including Rogers as a backup in place of Bevan is the wrong call IMHO.

I dont think the selection of a Key Position player (one position type in particular) as a mere backup option is waranteed in any sense. What happens if Rogers fails to contain Lynch?? he would be a liability then.

If Rogers is to be selected, he must earn his stripe as a first-option match-up, full stop. It might be more beneficial to his games if he stays in 2's for some more times. He was playing down back not that long (he was a forward at Melbourne).

Exactly, we are not the Lions. Mismatches work two ways, you can outmark/ body but you can also run off bulkier slower players and wear them down.

It is great to see this clutch of youngsters in there in one sense and I suppose it is the ultimate test with the Lions in Brisbane.

All cheers to the debutants Bevan and McVeigh!
