    Ablett, Luke

Loved his game last night, he has finally shown something I believe, won't be as touted as McVeigh for example or his cousin for that matter but I reckon he will have great influence on matches as he continues to improve.

    Your thoughts?

I think we're in for a solid season from him. My only gripe with his game for Rd 1 is that he didn't appear very confident going forward. A couple of scoring opportunities seemed to present themselves later in the game which he didn't take advantage of. He'll learn from this though.

He did do pretty well in the midfield actually. Did anyone notice jude bolton until the 2nd half?

I'm firmly on the Luke Ablett bandwagon.

I know he has gained a following but I just can't see him playing four solid qaurters and think he will always be a fringe players who could of should of.

He has hardly had a chance to prove himself. From what we saw in the prelim, and now against Brisbane again last week, I think the potential is there for him to mature into a very serviceable player for us. He's shown enough in his brief senior career to have most of us excited.

Wont be as good and his uncle though, I dare say.

His game reminded me of Jude Bolton's from about 2-3 years ago in some ways. Making lots of leads to get open around wing to half forward and getting involved in the physical action. Some reasonable kicking, but nothing too flashy or fancy, and not really having a huge influence on the game. Looks like he may be a reasonable mark. Will be interesting to see how he improves. Like Dpw, I'm not sure if he will become anything more than a fringe player though (would be nice if he is better than this though).

Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

Got on the end of the footy and finds space really well, but is he capable of getting to the real midfield contests and winning the hard in and under contests.

The comp is full of outside receivers who can make space but the top sides are full of tough nuts.

Hope he adds that side of his game asap.

McVeigh though, already appears to have that strong running ability and certainly gets to where the ball's at.

Good to see you back P46 and look forward to a bit of sparring in the coming months. It's really hard to argue with you're incisive logic (trouble controlling laughter) but will do my best, like I am sure so many others will.

By the way how are Warfe's chances going? I have him on the old age pension at the moment.

Luke is still my pick to be our new star this year.

If it were up to RWO to decide, he'd be in for Saddo for the Freo game.

NO!!!! he seemed to be MIA until the 2nd Half.

Noggy was great, he proved he can handle the pressure at the pre final last year..... Jarred McVeigh wasn't bad either....

Not sure I would like to compare Nog with Jude of a few years ago. Jude has always been fearless and treads where others fear to tread. Not sure with Nog, he doesn't seem to show the same amount of guts.

Saying that I think he has a lot of promise and will be more than handy once he strings a few games together and his confidence grows.

Gee we have some talented young players coming through: Ablett, McVeigh, Bevan, LRT, James, Powell

No - Ablett doesn't throw himself recklessly into packs like Bolton did/does. However, other parts of the way he played on the weekend reminded of Bolton - like finding space out on the flanks and being a link man.

I don't think those are traits that are specail in fact I would say being a link man and finding space on a flank is something all AFL players should be able to do. They are the soft things things to do during a game.
