Time to guess the Rd 2 team!

Roosey has said that Kennelly will play (assuming he pulls up OK today) and that Schneider is off the injury list. Also he has said that Saddo will not be playing in a key position. McVeigh was fantastic last week and Bevan had a much better than average debut. Ablett was good. LRT was good, but didn't get the ball much despite a fair bit of time on the field. Mathews was under done. Both Boltons were well below their best. Ball was under done and Doyle is available after kicking 5 again on the weekend

We need to tag Hasleby and Bell
They have a two top small forwards in Medhurst and Farmer.

Fixter would have been great this week.

I've got a sneaking suspicion that Bevan will play and that Powell will go out (for Kennelly)

Kirk will be on Bell (who had his only low disposal game of the year against us last year, if memory serves)

I would like to see Crouch on Hasleby (who has towelled us a couple of times)

Crouch will be first option on Farmer, I expect. He's the obvious choice. He's had some good games against him and also some where he's struggled but I still reckon he'll start there.

Either Bolton (J) or Fossie will probably have to mind Bell or Haselby I suspect. Mathews might be capable if he were fully fit but he may not have the fitness base at the moment.

You're right, Lizz, he is the obvious one to play on Farmer...all the more reason to play him in the middle where his experience will be put to maximimum use limiting their disposal. If the midfield pressure is no good then it won't matter who is down back - they will score a stack of goals. If the midfield pressure is good (like last year against Collingwood Rd 5) then we can feel cinfident with aless experienced player in the pocket.

Fosdike, Maxfield and Bolton's opponents get a lot of the ball, quite frankly, and this is what we need to stop, IMO.

Not sure I agree - a player like Farmer can be kept to a handful of touches and still kick 3 or 4 goals. It needs an experienced head to reduce the chance of that happening. Even if the midfield were on top, someone like Bevan could get ripped to shreds on a Farmer.

If a role has to be found for someone like Bevan, I'd rather see him stick tight on a Bell or a Haselby and reduce their effectiveness.

Also, one of Crouch's assets is that he is pretty quick. Neither Bell nor Hasleby is and they don't need a quick (of foot) player assigned to them.

Instead of trying to match up agains the opposition, we could try to select a team that makes it difficult for them to match up?

We will never go anywhere by negating the opposition. I thought Eade's lessons are pretty well-known.

Who should Barry Halls match up against this week??? and Goodes??? Goodes on Parker looks good to me. Parker will not be able to do a single thing if Goodes plays on him. Yeah, that is our secret game plan

My main problem would be Pavlich. We would have to play LRT on him to match size and aerobic capacity. Our midfielders should get on top like last season with Captain towelling Bell

It'd be an interesting experiment, LRT doesn't read the game all that well yet (at this stage LRT still needs to be taken to the ball) and Pavlkich would certainly do that but is he quick enough to go with him?
