I know that has been mooted as a possibility, but the reality is that it would be virtually impossible if we have a decent year.

The movers and shakers in trade week are the clubs who have a) high draft picks to trade, or b) quality players walking or being pushed out, or c) leverage with an early pick in the PS draft.

As I mentioned in my earlier post, essentially we hope we don't fit any of those criteria. Hence our chances of getting a young big name player are virtually nil.

West Coast gave the Aints Gehrig for Sierakowski and pick 19 (pretty handy being Daniel Kerr).

Though I think teams are pretty reticent not to trade easily with top clubs
You don't ban those who supported your opponent, you make them wallow in their loserdom by covering your victory! You sit them in the front row. You give them a hat! Toby Ziegler

Fair point that 'value' deals do still exist, although I would suggest the reason St Kilda seem to have got such value was that Gehrig had already walked out on WC and put himself on the market, combined with the fact that they had 1st pick in the PS draft.

That does equate to serious leverage.
