SYDNEY Swans forward Michael O'Loughlin was today cleared of a hamstring tear after undergoing scans.
O'Loughlin limped off the SCG during yesterday's win over Fremantle, sparking fears he may have had a recurrence of the torn hamstring that he kept him out of Sydney's finals campaign last season.
Club doctor Nathan Gibbs said no decision had yet been made on whether O'Loughlin would be ready to play in Saturday night's clash with winless Geelong at the SCG.
"Michael has obviously had a twinge, but like many similar instances there was no tear," said Gibbs.
"That being the case he will be tested later in the week as to whether he is available to play on the weekend."
If there are any doubts/concerns, I'd much prefer him sit out a week. The risk of further injury in my opinion is not worth it, particularly as we are going to thrash the Cats anyway
