    The PA system yesterday

Did anyone notice the PA system wasn't up to scratch yesterday? Or is my hearing going at the ripe old age of 26??

The song seemed very distant and I couldn't hear half of what the announcer was saying?

    Was I the only one?

No you're not hearing things. The song starts so quietly that you're halfway through before you pick up the sound.

The SCG is in decline that's for sure. How much exposed seating is there at that ground compared to say the GABBA?

No wonder we get rubbish crowds on wet or overcast days, there are so few covered seats.

yep, it was crap. I was really looking forward to clapping along with the song when the final siren went (well, the final siren before the get on the ground siren... you know what I mean...) and I didn't even twig they were playing it until 1/4 of the way through.

I agree, I was waiting for the song, and it was 1/4 way through before i heard it.

I also took the opportunity to give it to the food outlets. They had a girl there surveying people after purchasing. So I told them what I thought

We have a real strategic problem with the SCG.

          Cons:
          - its not big enough
          - its hard to get to for the majority of prospective new fans
          - its expensive for fans
          - seating is largely unprotected
          - facilities are inadequate

          Pros:
          - it has a great atmosphere when theres a big crowd
          - its close by for our core supporter base picked up in the mid-90s
          - the Swans have a strong home ground advantage there
          - its our training venue, hence all of our facilities are there
          - we get a lot of the revenue from corporate boxes, apparently
          - we make more money per spectator than Stadium Australia

The answer to the primary cons (1 and 2 on my list) is to send big games to Stade Oz. But then, that detracts from all of the pros. What we really need is an extra 10,000-15,000 seats at the SCG. That would allow us to play just about all but the Collingwood game at the SCG. But does the design of the SCG allow that sort of increased capacity, or are we doomed to 42,000 there?

          We hate Shannon Grant too
          We hate scumbag Gaspar

my main complaint with the food at the ground is that my brother bought a "gourmet" kransky and there was no way in hell that the sausage EVER fit in the roll... and it was really bothering me watching him eat it

and the pig had just had a sausage in a roll from the bbq at the pub... which was enough for me... and would it hurt a sports ground to sell old?!?!?!?!?? sorry...

As I've said on several occasions:

Move the Members and Ladies stands to Nth Sydney Oval and build a stand like the Brewongle in its place.

The whole "but it's part of the heritage" argument is a pile of crap.

The MCG has more status and history IMO and they dont have a problem upgrading it!

The SCG looks like an architects nightmare to me!

Their biggest mistake was how they built the O'Reilly stands and Yabba's Hill - why you wouldn't turn them in big stands and join them up to the Churchill/Brewongle is beyond me.

They have had a few opportunities over the years to better the SCG, but never seem to take them.

The only thing I have liked of what they have done is the blue seats!

Mind you I do prefer the SCG to Telstra!!! Even with the SCG's faults it does have a wonderful atmosphere.

The SCG has shrunk since i first went there as a tackler. Used to be a bigger looking ground too and each stand used to compliment each other.

Then the 80's came and the new stands actually destroyed the whole look of the ground.

Then they raised the sections where u can no longer stand and watch the game. You are forced to sit down.

I still think it should be our home ground, i mean we train on it and therefore gives us that advantage when we play on it.

And i still get chills when i watch the cricket in the summer and know thats where the swannies play.

How about the days when there was also league on the ground and we had to play footy on it with all the ground markings from league still there.

                    Made you cross eyed!!

Personally I yearn for the days when there was alot of confetti on the ground. That was a highlight of Grand Finals gone past and a feature of Sth American soccer.

I think the SCG should also have it.
