Willoughby & Schmidt- one's to watch!

I called the Ressies game yesterday for 2QBN 96.7FM . The two's won the Canberra AFL Pre-season GF in fine style.

I just wanted to say that I thought that Tim Schmidt was everywhere in the game from start to finish and really impressed with the way he kept popping up in the right place at the right time in defense and midfield.

Likewise in attack young Josh Willoughby was a ball magnet and did plenty of good things.

Stephen Doyle was referred to by Roos in the press conference as BOG in the two's and he did have a good game, but I thought considering his senior experience he could have dominated even more and his skills let him down too often but it is always hard I guess for a big bloke in the wet.

I thought Buchanan was outstanding and must be close to Senior selection. Doyle was also a good player in conditions that did not suit him. Willoughby and Schmidt both have good futures.

Schmidt, whom my gf has dubbed 'the nugget' after watching him at NSO, is not too far away from senior football, due to his body being more ready than Willoughby's.

P.S. She's getting carried away with her success with 'Schneiderman'.
"As a player he simply should not have been able to do the things he did. Leo was a 185cm, 88kg full-back and played on some of the biggest, fastest and best full-forwards of all time, and constantly beat them." Roos.
Leo Barry? you star! We'll miss ya, ''Leapin''.

Amon was pretty chirpy afterwards at the aftermatch.

I've been promoting Buchanan for a couple of years now, as when at Port Melbourne he showed a class above. He is similar in size and style to peter bell.

Willoughby looks tiny. I'd be shocked if we saw him this year. Schmidt is *more* ready, from what I've seen, but I'd expect to see Buchanan, Thewlis and Dempster before Schmidt this year.

                No chance Willougby this year.

Little chance for Schmidt (Mesher in our group ). He may have a body that would stand up to the rigours of seniors this year, but we would need to have some serious injury problems before we get down to him.

Having said that, both look fine prospects and we need to be patient.
