When is the Sydney based Sydney crowd gunna get this right.

Great tackles are laid by Sydney players to silence, we are never going to get free kicks from the umps until supporters get more vocal - this was especially noticable on Sunday.

Plus one of the great aspects of footy is the crowd call "Baaaalllllllllllllll", followed by the yesssssssss, as the free is paid.

On that point, actually made myself very unpopular with young couple and their new baby in front of me on sunday !

I suspect his poor little eardrums will recover given time !

Oh Balders, such poor form at the footy.

Have to agree on the lack of noise, but there always is something about our first home game crowd that can't quite get into the game after a 6 month layoff. Then again a crowd of just over 20k is usually pretty lame at the best of times no matter what the venue.

And on our first home game of the year, when IS the AFL going to give us a side that has something resembling interest.

The last two years our first SCG home game has been against Adelaide and Freo, hardly the sort of sides that fill the seats, In addition to this, I don't think the club really gets into its marketing of games until 2 or 3 home games or lately it seems to be focusing its marketing resources on the SA games. Could help to explain the lack of crowds at early season games.

I am not sure that Baaaalllllllllllllll is even in the rule book. It always gets me when people scream it like it is a rule. The fact is that the rule is failure to dispose of it correctly (handball or kick). There is no rule called dropping the ball. Small point but I like it when fans understand the rule and call it correctly.

I find the call of "incorrect disposal by hand or foot" a little cumbersome !!!

I find it more annoying when everyone yells ball as soon as a player is grabbed.
Sometimes it's not even close to holding teh ball.
There is a fine line between making an early call of 'baaaaalllllll' and missing the boat completely.

And they are the ones that really count.

Because soon after you just might get to yell 'yeeeeeaaaaahhhhh!!!' which is the sweetest part

Yeah, been called out forever in my lifetime, even when it wasn't really a free kick.

It is one of of the great sounds out the footy, including the crowd enjoying the result.

I've had a woman pay me out for waking up her baby .... sorry, the football is loud, if that's a problem leave the kid at home.
