    Night moves

We have lost out last four night matches

    Round 19, 2003 vs Hawthorn
    Round 21, 2003 vs Collingwood
    1PF 2003 vs Brisbane
    Round 1, 2004 vs Brisbane

Our last win at night was Round 15, 2003 vs St Kilda.

Co-incidence or does someone have a theory about this??

    Hawthorn: They own us.
Collingwood: Big crowd, and we freaked. Think about our record with crowds over 50,000...
    Brisbane: We freaked.
    Brisbane: We couldn't kick.

    Therefore: Co-incidence.

Worst game I have ever been to, hands down. I just hated it, despite Schneider's goal being totally brilliant (we were sitting directly behind it, and it moved like a backwards S through the air!), and despite the 70 000 strong crowd.

As Charlie said, I think the problem with the Hawthorn game was the fact that it was Hawthorn, not the fact that it was at night.

The Brisbane ones, well, losing to the 3-peaters ain't so bad.

Still, it'd be nice if we could win

Almost our worst game of the season against Hawthorn on a very dewy ground.

Dur, Collingwood and Brisbane played off for the cup. A couple of reasonable sides.

Interesting point though, I wonder how night vs day stats look by each team in recent years?

As do the Kangaroos. I hate playing those two sides.

We always play well against the Bombers and Lions IMHO

a huge factor regarding the Hawthorn game was also the fact that TOTC dinner was held the night before. The "Players" decided not to go and to concentrate on the game.

From a reliable source inside the dressing rooms that night, I was advised not much concentrating was taking place.

It is interesting what you find out when you know people very close to the players. I was furious a couple of seasons ago after we lost to Melbourne at the SCG and wanted to find out what was going on. What I managed to find out from trainers astounded me.

As late as 30 minutes before this match there were players in tears saying they didn't want to play. I'd heard that Brad Seymour and Paul Kelly were 2 of them. Jack Stone, the 12 year old son of the then-assistant coach George Stone, had died, and the players were all mortified. And even leading players were so upset that they didn't want to play.

I guess people are human, hey. And there is very often a reason for why things happen when a team plays badly.
