Don't hold your breath ugg - I've been trying to get Robbie to spell "bloody" correctly for over 3 years.
177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out.... Des' Weblog
Originally posted by robbieando Saddo tonight would of got so much confidence out of his play tonight. He has hit rock bottom and has gone back to basics. Taken out of an important role in defence he is been given the time to sort himself out and work his work into form. While tonight was his best match all season, he still has about 30% improvement in him and with him not making any stupid mistakes over the last 2 weeks he'll get better as the season goes on and in time he'll find his true role in the teams and hopefully he can have the impact he once had. Just not at CHB
This is the real reason for the abysmal standard of play last night - all the other players were trying to make Saddo look good.
We didn't play well agreed. But Geelong did a very similar thing to us that we did to Brisbane. In fact, though it was a lower overall standard of game, skill wise, there were many parallels with the Lions game, with the stronger, more experienced home team willing itself home against all odds in the final quarter. In both games, the better team lost.
I feel for Geelong because they did almost exactly what they did in the Wizard Cup final and in the final quarter stopped doing what they had done for the first three quarters to get them into the position they did.
I saw one shocking kick from Saddo but he seemed ok apart from that. We also have to take into consideration that Geelong isnt really the best side in the comp at the moment.
I reckon the game would have been much more frustrating to watch on TV. We're so used to running out of the half back line successfully, but we were beaten at our own game with our sloppiness. I dont often attend matches often but this is the second time they have done this while I was there. Last years game against hawthorn was another one.
Using hypothesis testing via confidence intervals:
Nick Davis mark inside 50 = goal
THE BEST PART WAS WHEN , GEELONG WERE 2PTS UP IN THE LAST QUARTER, KINGSLEY MARKED FROM 30M OUT AND INSTEAD OF HAVING THE SHOT AT GOAL , ATTEMPTED A VERY ORDINARY SHORT PASS WHICH WAS STUFFED UP. I FEAR HAD HE KICKED IT HIMSELF , THEY WERE BACK TO 8PTS UP AND MAYBE COULD HAVE BEEN A STEADIER THAT THEY NEEDED. THANKS AGAIN KINGSLEY.
