The umpiring on Saturday night was nothing short of pathetic, how can Goodes be pinned for holding the ball in the ruck contest when he lets the ball go, one of the geelong players dropped his head and got a free kick for taken high, Kirk was penalised for no reason there was no way he was holding that geelong player, it's happening week in week out. anyone agree with me about it.

I agree that the umpiring was the pits , in particular, during the 3rd quarter. I thought that some supporters near me were about to explode because of anger with the umpires. I am not sure why some spectators ran onto the ground but possibly they were seething because of the umpiring, or maybe they were just mad with the drink.WMP -
My Red and White glasses thought that the umpiring was poor -when I was at the game, however on viewing the tape later on there was only 2 - 3 really bad decisions.... The rest was because we were second to the ball and didn't have the required intensity.
Just part of the game.
Some of our players think that if they play for frees the umps will give them one... Sould rethink that game plan!
Didn't work on Sat night

I am biased that's a sure thing but when watching the game I really felt the umpiring decisions were atrocious, and I posted those thoughts here during the game.
It may just be because it was such a close game, if it was an easy win for us I don't think I would have complained so much.Comment

For mind the Goodes decision was the right decision. As we all know last season the rule was put in place that if you "grabbed" the ball from a ball up, and got tackled you were pinged for holding the ball. Goodes in this case had 4 bites at the footy and then got tackled. For mind the 4 grabs at the ball were seen as 4 chances to knock the ball away and when he didn't got rightly got pinged for holding the ball.
However the free kick James Kelly got because of Kirk holding onto him was wrong. In no way did Kirk do anything wrong in trying to spoil the ball, just an umpire with a poor view making a shocking free kick decisionOnce was, now elsewhereComment

I didn't think the umpiring was great, but I would say that both sides got screwed equally... almost... I am a bit worried that the umpires aren't protecting guys going for the ball, that seemed evident in the st kilda v richmond game yesterday tooI knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his timeComment

The Kirk-Kelly free kick is a funny one. It happened right in front of me, and I must say that at the game I did have a go at the umps, but in the back of my mind I was thinking that it probably was correct. However, after seeing the replay I would have to say that it was a shocking decision.
Can anyone remember seeing so many push-in-the-back frees in one game as there were on Saturday night?Visit my eBay store -

During the 3rd quarter, I could have strangled someone I thought the umpiring was that bad. I haven't seen the full replay (I'm refusing to watch anything other than the last quarter) but I suspect it wasn't all going against us. I was just getting annoyed because the boys weren't playing very well.
If we'd lost however, then it would be a different story!
For the record, the one against Kirk was not a free kick in my eyes, and neither was the Goodes one - he never even had possession of it, so I don't see how he could get pinned for pulling it out of the ruck and not releasing it...Comment

i didn't mind the goodes one being called, but for christ sakes can we have a some consistency!! In the 4th quarter a Geelong midfielder took the ball out of a throw in and failed to dispose of the ball and wasn't pinged..Official Driver Of The "Who Gives A @@@@ As The Player Will Get Delisted Anyway" Bandwagon.

Goodes was pinged for being talented, as surely any other player would have been deemed to not be in control. Goodes in control of the game, why not of the ball when it is in mid air.

Right at the end of the 3rd quarter, James Kelly was deep in the right back pocket infront of the Brewongle Stand when he found himself hemmed in and going nowhere.
He got rid of the ball by throwing it behind his back and the umpire allowed him to get away with it.
Ridiculous!Comment
