    Worked out how you're getting to Canberra yet?

    If not, there might still be a spot or two on the cheersquad bus...

    177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

      Hume Hwy, turn left onto the Federal Highway just past Goulburn.

      Turn left when you get to the big roundabout with the flagpole on top.

      If you get to Cooma, you've gone to far

              Manuka-the goss.

              Getting to Manuka could not be easier. You cross the lake then take a couple of the tunnels under Parliament House. Then I think it is the 1st turnoff to the left. From memory keep your eyes open for a big church near the turn-off.

              Near the ground there is a sort of restaurant and cafe precint in the suburb of Manuka (funnily enough). It is typically Canberra, completely sterile. And on a Sunday, mostly closed. I recommend the cake shop on the corner though. Yummy vanilla slices! The places that are open certainly do a roaring trade with all the footy travellers.

              Last year they ran out of food and drink at half time inside the ground, so a trip across to the cake shop before the match might not be such a bad idea.

              Manuka is a ground with at best VFA standard facilities. But SCG-length queues, especially behind the main grandstands. If you make any sort of noise, the locals will stare at you in bewilderment. It has the atmosphere of a country park. Even worse than Geelong, and that is saying something! I'm used to the SCG latte set glaring at me like I'm a freak. But in Canberra they look at you as if you were a space creature, I tell you. Still 90% of them will be 'cheering' for us, so it could be worse, I guess.

              And if you say your flags are less than 10 feet in height, security will let you in without a problem. Our big flags looked great there last season. (Anyone take any pics of them by chance?)

              The players buses just park on the grass outside the ground. Last year after the game several of our younger bus troopers actually managed to get inside the team bus where players readily signed autographs. So bring your guernseys/posters etc!

                  On Saturday, I'm going to Norris Lurkers nieces birthday. On Sunday he's picking me up from my parents with Nincompoops in tow. We will drop in to my house to drop Mrs Destructive off, and then it's off to Canberra.
