    I Think I'm Crazy...

I have a huge bedroom compared to most, and used to have LOTS of wallspace and ceiling-to-floor mirrors. Today I officially ran out of space because I have too many Swans posters! I now have 11 team posters (1994-2004), a large copy of the Ella Bache "Protect Your Largest Organ Longer" suncreen ad, various posters from 1995 and 1996 from the newspapers, and a range of posters and stuff that friends have acquired for me over the years. Add to that 4 Archive boxes full of old Footy Records, a bookshelf full of scrapbooks of newspaper clippings and various football-related publications and a wardrobe of predominantly red and white. I have a feeling I'm a little too obssessed...

Please tell me some of you (OTHER than Jules) can compare! (make me feel less crazy! )

When I was a kid I shared a fairly small bedroom with my sister. There was only one "free" wall because my dad had built in furniture (fold-up beds, desks, wardrobes) covering two of the walls and the other was the window.

Once I had filled up that free wall with all my posters (after allowing a small space for my sister to put one of hers up) I took to the ceiling. The advantage is that you can lie in bed at night and look directly up at them; the disadvantage is that you can wake up in the middle of the night feeling smothered because they have fallen down on top of you.

Still, might be worth thinking about...

My spare room used to be covered in team posters but I took them down 18months ago when I had a visitor for three months.
I have the Elle Bache Poster and the Go Swans card from the 96 Grand Final, and another poster I picked up last year up in the garage.
The spare room has a pink panther wearing an old cheer squad jumper and a swans scarf. On the walls are a South Melbourne jersey signed by Barry Round and a Sydney jersey signed by Kell.
And I have scrapbooks going back to the early 70's as well as a box of papers from 1996. Gave away all my records a couple of years ago.
The kitchen walls have this years team poster, PK poster and the membership notice from 98.
Heater and Fridge has various badges and fridge magnets including a South Melbourne rosette type badge.
(As a child I also had posters on my ceiling)

Well, we've just moved so there's not much on the walls apart from nicely framed things - so at the moment it's just my Eels Club Champions photo, Dunkley testimonial caricature, a framed display of trading cards... and I have to find room for my framed heritage guernsey.

Those and my 2 scarves hanging from the staircase rail are my only Swannish displays at the moment. My old bedroom in my parents' place was (and still is!) plastered with posters, mind you, the swans had to fight for space with the Eels, Spirit, cricket and whatever bands and TV shows I was into at the time.

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

I think I'm in the same boat as you, swansrock4eva. I have a signed heritage jumper, and a signed "Sydney" jumper hanging off the wall. Many swans posters. Pictures with players in frames. One that I got with Roosy after his 300th game, that was signed at a later date. A framed card in a plaque of Lockett, that I had signed at an aftermatch function at Flemington racecourse years ago. I also (The Day after he kicked 16 I think) I also have a framed picture of Kel on the wall. I also have a scrap book of Newspaper clippings. Also have signed cards of Roosy and Kel.

I've got the "Go Swans" sign from the '96 GF, that I found at the Glasshouse after the game. It certainly wasn't mine in the first place.

My Swans bits & peices are on the back of the loo door!!!

I have the 2004 calender along with a quite faded "ROOS" & "GOAL" cards that were given out years ago! The team poster
is also up there, along with a rogues gallery of friends & family (which is always an interesting talking point when a guest returns to the dinner table after a visit!)

There is a rosette on the fridge along with various pictures of Me & Aussie Ange with the Swans boys from a triva night we went to.

And agree there is a vast array of red and white apparel in the wardrobe!

So compared to others, its very poor showing of things swans like - however I dont think anyone could have beaten my Bay City Roller collection I had back in 1975 had walls and ceiling covered (well 11 year old girls did that back then!)

cheers and have a great day everyone.

                Bluetack or Stickytape?

To me, after a while you stop looking at them and the fun becomes finding new material the ceremony of hanging it on the walls, doors, window frames, window panes, outside wardrobe doors, inside wardrobe doors or ceilings.

You might resort to say doing a mosaic of the Swans Opera House logo on a large board that fits identically with your BBQ side board to rest your Coopers (Swans stubby holder of course)on during those nice winter roasts waiting for that exciting interstate Satruday night game to start.

im going to show this post to my girlfriend to prove to her that Im not the most freakishly fanatical swans supporter out there. She reckons my signed 2002 guernsey and a few posters - plus the way I behave when a game is on - is outlandish and over-the-top. She aint seen what Im capable of yet! mwuahahaha *evil laugh*

When I was 15 I had band posters on my wall.

At about 18 they all dissappeared and semi naked chicks started showing up (on the walls )

Now I am 34 I have...... that Swans poster with the girl wearing only Swans body paint.
Think I am stuck in that rut, but I at least have a Swans touch to it

There was a time when Sherbet posters, signed t-shirts and concert ticket stubbs adorned my walls and wardrobes but I've grown up a lot since then.........

Centre stage of my family and friend photo display is a beauty of me and Plugger at the 99 b&f and another of me and (BSMBH) Roosy at the 2002 b&f. My fridge has stickers galore, newspaper articles and my ticket from the 03 qual final in Adelaide which will never ever get thrown out (till its replaced with the winning GF ticket). I also have a photo of a very cool old style fridge that was painted with plugger kicking a goal (what the??) and enough newspaper cuttings to fill a couple of albums.

To add a new dimension to this thread of revelations, what are some of the odd/desparate lengths we've all gone to watch/listen to a game?

Mine was on the ski slopes of Perisher (or Thredbo - wasn't paying too much attention) in circa 98/99. Was wired up to the trusty ABC and had been cruising in and out of not-great reception for 3 quarters. For the last 10/15 minutes of the game I was paused, too scared to move less the reception die. Of course I was right under a chair and have no idea whether those riding above me had any idea why I was yelling encouragement to myself.....(her name is Micky????) And we won......

As I was reading all the comments down the page I was wondering all the while if I could admit to only having this particular poster too, Cure .. and I am 2 years shy of 50. It's a reaction to PC-dom. Call me old-fashioned ...

Swanette, you just need a pal to sms you the scores even if you're at the opera, a wedding/barmitzvah/funeral or say, even a school reunion .. whatever ...

PS:- Sadly during a recent move I lost many of my most prized Swans pictures. They were in bags and left on the footpath in front of the Removalists Truck. When i went up to get more stuff to pack the truck, they were gone.
