I think Bruce tends to run off half-back, so it would be up to a half-forward to take him. May be something Saddo could do.

I think Barry or Kennelly on him if he goes up forward might work well too - make him more accountable.

Green has been playing on the wing, so perhaps Kirk if Johnstone doesn't play again (although I suspect he might).

You'd have to think we won't need to match up Robertson next week.

But with this tribunal/citing process we have, you never know.

If Mick and Davis don't come up. No change.

Can't see both of them coming in. Ablett out if one comes in.

Any change is tough on the player going out right now.

We don't have a passenger at the Mo.

Roos said on radio this morning that, Davis is likely to play, but O'Loughlin was a bit doubtful. So i am guessing Ablett will probably be dropped.

He also said that Schaubs is a couple of weeks away.

It was a good interview...he gave good raps for Hall, Heath, Saddo and Bevan

And also for Ricky Barham as recruiting manager - to have found the likes of Goodes, Schneider etc

O'Keefe has done nothing wrong to deserve to be dropped. Strong mark, good kick - IMO he should always be somewhere up front.

I agree with Hammo. ROK was unlucky not to have more of his leads honoured yesterday. Played well, worked all day and was only at the bottom of the possession getters cause the midfield shared it around so much.

he played back yesterday. as soon as bolton went down with his knee - part way through the 2nd quarter IIRC - LRT was moved on to petrie and he beat petrie hands down.

there were at least three contests between LRT and petrie, to which LRT spoiled from behind, recovered quickly and took the handball receive and cleared the ball

schauble goes down - james steps up - to which he has found a permanent spot
bolton goes down - LRT steps up - i want to be able to say the above

off the topic - how good was LRT's effort in our goalsquare to not just give it up easily, a lot of footy smarts were shown then

IMO, LRT would be a perfect matchup for holland, who has been playing at CHF, with bolton taking miller and james first crack at neitz. james' first BIG test - cant wait!

i partially agree with the tarrant - sadders comparison, however the better comparison IMO would be rawlings, their body shape and marking ability are comparable (rawlings does have stronger hands). however, i think that the hall-saddington potential combination could be compared to the rocca-tarrant combination.

o'loughlin is also, IMO, better suited for a forward pocket. o'loughlin is listed on the AFL website as 189cm, which is relatively short for a FF. he is also brilliant at roving the packs. id like to see saddington played at FF, albeit for a couple of weeks.

both magic and saddington are essentially tall midfielders and are not bereft of pace. so, while on paper the combination of these two would make our full-forward line look too tall, both can provide roving and pressure once the ball hits the ground.

last and this week's game and posts on here have also highlighted that our gameplan and doyle at FF do not mix. doyle made an impact at FF under the coaching of rocket. i think we now have the ability to play ball for half of the quarter in the ruck, then have doyle in the ruck for the other half of the quarter; rotating them off the bench - much like adelaide did last season with clarke and biglands.

bevan's tenacity and guts needs to be rewarded with his continual inclusion, not to mention his ball-winning capacity and the ability to bob up for a goal. currently i would see our rookies ranked:

                  bevan
                  mcveigh
                  ablett

mcveigh does look the class act but i think we can be patient with that prospect and ablett does not always show 100% commitment

if magic and davis were to come up for next week's game, and if i were on the selection committee i would drop mcveigh and ablett, which is essentially a sign of our depth, not their lack of ability.

therefore this week IMO, would look like this

                  bevan james bolton
                  kennelly LRT barry
                  maxfield kirk williams
                  goodes hall davis
                  schneider saddington o'loughlin
                  fol: doyle fosdike bolton
                  int: ball crouch mathews okeefe
                  emg: mcveigh ablett buchanon

my interchange bench does look funny, however, this is mainly due to matchups. i think bevan on davey would be a better matchup to crouch. and id like to see both crouch and mathews be used as free-wielding midfielders this week.

                  thoughts?

I wouldnt be worried about ROK being dropped coz his leads weren't honoured. The match committee would recognise his hard work and realise that him leading creates space in the forward area for others like Hall & Saddo to reap the rewards

If Neitz does beat James,we have plenty of options to play on him, we have Bolton,Saddo and Leo can play tall and then theres LRT too.

Going by yesterdays form we should win easily.

Bevan is ahead of McVeigh imo, McVeigh has great potential but at the moment Bevan has done more.

He was injured when we recruited him IIRC,how much reserves did he play?

He could tear it up if he's on the ground the whole game.

of course I agree with Sharpie, Hammo and Rizzo. I was shocked when I looked at the Stats in the Herald Sun today. After being at the game, and catching one tiny part of the replay on fox last night where the commenatators made reference to how good Ryan had been. However the stats have him ranked lowest on the entire team.

It just goes to show how these stats can actually reflect an inaccurate portrayal of a game. Ryan's first quarter was very quiet, but from then on, he was working fifty and beyond very hard. As mentioned his leads were often ignored and he was often the fourth forward and with the games the other three played, who (besides me ) can blame the players running through for opting to honour those leads instead.

I don't think he has anything to worry about. It's a good thing though that we have such depth at the moment. Makes playing your heart out all that more important.

That commitment was commented on yesterday. They noted that, with the Swans 50 plus points up we still had Leo competing with Tiger for the mark (how weird was that!). At the last(?) bounce we ended up with three Swans flat on their backs after they all went for the ball.
