Nicks' 150th

I haven't seen the Record for round one, but for the last three weeks he has been listed in the milestones (page 20 today) for his 150th. They even had a headline about it on page 35 today.

He hasn't even been an emergency this year so why do they think he will get a game?

What's the bet they will have that milestone listed for the whole season?

It's possible, but unlikely.

Injuries and perhaps a drop in the form of some of the younger members of the team, will likely mean that Nicks gets a game.

It's even possible that he'll force his way back into the team - at his best he was classy.

Wasn't in there for Rd 1 which makes having it in since then a little strange, as they did have Ball's 150 milestone in Rd 1 in there.

Could be a while before Nicksy brings his up, but I did notice he was in the circle singing the club song today.

Yes, you cant forget he was the premier back flanker in his time. AA selection and it was only a couple of years ago he was thought to be the next captain after PK. However saying all this, i dont think he will ever play at his best, and imho (sadly, as he was one of my favs) will nevre be anything more than a fringe player from now on, ala McPherson

I noticed that. It also looked like they had most of the club officials there as well!!!

From what I saw at the ressies game on Sat it could be a while before he gets back in. He wasn't bad but he didn't do anything special either.

He seemed to be alternating with Warfe on the field and only playing half a game in the twos is not very promising.

Bucky played well - one of the best - but the team as a whole were abysmal.

As an additional note....I think you will see Nicks' milestones this year, just not for Matthew....both Nick Davis and Nic Fosdike are on 96 career games after the weekend.

We were at the Canberra brunch yesterday and Nicks was on the couch with James Micklejohn.
Spoke very well and I ended up speaking to him on his own was very impressed with his manner and his conversation. Told me it would be sometime before he was back in the seniors, said he is lacking match fitness and wanted to get fit in strength and game time, understands he is not known for his running speed so has to peak elsewhere.
Knows he has a lot of work to to and patient to do it.
So believe the Record is in error.
Nicks will get back and will be much improved and do great things might not be for a long while but won't replace a young one - I believe and he believes they have a great place - so never know when the opportunity will present.

He is also at the moment a great ambassador for the Swans with adults and supporters and especially children while he is regaining fitness.

We kinda need to know if he is playing or not. Because we have to put something on the banner for him. If not, I have a great slogan for it. (whether we have people to cut out letters and stick them down is another thing entirely.)

Last year we had to send a banner over to the Crows Supporters Group before we knew whether Jason Ball was playing his 150th. He did his leg and hence the Crows actually had to think of a message for the back of our banner for us!

To their credit, they put "Onward to Victory" on it. And didn't sabotage it at all.

PS:- Personally I think there is no way Nicks should be playing on Saturday. With Davis Micky and possibly Schaubs to come back, guys like Bevan and LRT may well have to miss out as is.

I know someone who worked at Swans briefly. He had nothing but praise for Nicks about his professionalism and kind manner he displays to EVERYONE at the club, despite his poor form last year.

While I don't pretend that I personally know Nicks, he is a down-to-earth sort of person who is first to admit that he is out of form. He is also a person who will work very hard to attain his milestone. This is why I admire the guy despite decline in his ability.

For someone still coming "back" - and we'll never feel his pain - he tackled like a one .. not a two. When he wrapped the paws around any of them, they were stopped in their tracks. Confidence and poise + 2 goals (already mentioned in match report elsewhere).

Gonna miss his face in the side as a regular. Just hope he can squeak out a few more matches for old times sake.
