Next TV rights deal effect on Swans

If the swans have a couple of good years, and the Saturday night TV ratings become sustainable (which they probably are already),
I think 10 will ask for more Swans games on Saturday night both home and away. (Ditto with Brisbane).
Ideally 10 would want to have saturday night footy, every saturday night for programming consistancy. So the swans could end up playing, say, 18 sat night games, with the other 4 nigts made up of "blockbusters", GF replays, etc, which might rate a bit in Sydney.

We could end up being the night specialists.

Bring it on. It would be good from where I am. A fair way from both Sydney and Melbourne. We like getting too a few a games a year and saturday nighters are always easier.

Saturday night games would be fine with me. I can't stand the 1pm starts on a Sunday just to fit in with Channel 9's NRL commitments.

Channel 10 has been fantastic for footy in NSW and QLD. I just hope the AFL realise this.

I don't want to get into a cash for comments situation at all, but I would like to see a commitment for general coverage of AFL in non-AFL states. Paul Bevan's Rising Star nomination was way down in the sports report on Ch10 even though it came early/mid week when not much else was happening. Also on Sports Tonight last night there was a couple of long stories about the NSW vs. ACT rara match but all the coverage for the two AFL games that night was just the times they were being televised...

Seems a pretty minor thing, but to attract/keep new supporters for the code in general there needs to be better coverage in the generailst sports areas instead of requiring the newcomers to actively seek out AFL content...
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Saturday nights for me would be great. It would mean that I stay at my parents after the game & go home Sunday morning. I like getting home at lunchtime instead of in the dark.

A night game on a fine night with an electric atmosphere. Have you not noticed that the atmosphere at night games is much better? Perhaps it is the fact that there are a lot more drunks in the outer

I am a fan of the night games. Love them, especially Friday nights. (Think Essendon a few years back at the SCG was outrlast Friday night home game?) We lost, but a great atmosphere in the rain.

For day games I prefer Saturday arvo - but I know that this will never happen in Sydney. I am not a huge fan of Sunday afternoon games, maybe because when we have finished singing the song, I remember I have 5 days of work coming up!.

ERGH! That sticks in my mind as ONE of the worst matches I have been to. Straight from work - in corporate attire, no water proof clothing, standing up in the bar in the MA Noble stand. Please lets not ever do the Friday night matches again (unless it's a public holiday).

I prefer afternoon matches because there aren't as many drunks around. Saying that though, I do agree there is a lot of atmosphere at the night matches because of the drunks!
