Why do the Swans Reserves play in the ACT, and not the Sydney League anymore?

Is it because the ACT League is larger?

I believe the SFL was deemed too weak a few years back. The ACT comp has been regarded as a stronger comp for some years now.

I think Campbelltown even played down there at some time for'better competition'. Perhaps someone could advise where do they play now?

They returned to the Sydney AFL in 1999. They played in the grand final in 2001, but have fallen on hard times in the Sydney comp over the last few years; and their opening to the 2004 season has been an absolute disaster - they've lost both their first 2 games by 100 points.

ACT also has the Wagga side and is the closest thing we have to a state league. Swans have a big problem with the Sydney grounds being too small and which have been in much need of an upgrade and redevelopment and the injuries they might give to players. The Swans themselves should have been at the forefront calling for those upgrades and had a long term campaign for change, but I've never heard anything at all out of them about it! It's a mystery why! Meanwhile, millions each year, I believe approx $6-8 million per year in NSW goes to Auskick!

its good so much is spent on auskick in NSW, however surely you should be lobbying the AFL for money to be spent on developing a genuine state competition that the swans can play their kids in and eventually if it becomes strong enough, access talent from it as do the Vic, SA and WA clubs with their respective leagues. a big part of this is the grounds.
