Willo's form/ Goodes in the ruck

I don't know if this has been mentioned recently but am I the only one sensing a bit of a downturn in Willo's form this season?

I know he had a few possessions the other night but his disposal of late has been shocking IMO.

I also saw no point in keeping Goodes forward when we were getting creamed in the middle. I remarked to my dad that he would be better in the ruck at that point, and sure enough, as soon as he was moved there we started to get some clearances.

If I can call it before that fact, what took Roosey so long to work it out?

Yep, I noticed it in the Freo game first.

What I saw of him in the pre-season was good especially the game against the flies.

Goodes shouldnt ruck against Sandillands and co, however around the ground rucking is something that should be kept in mind.

Couple of valid points and I too suspect his clanger rate has increased.

Can anyone find some stats to back this up? Say average rate of clangers in 2002, 2003 and so far in 2004?

I think we need to remember that Willo's first two seasons in the R&W were sensational, possibly the best two of his career. It is maybe to be expected that he is going to come down a bit from that level.

Bear in mind also that he is probably now the number one midfield target of opposition teams, as he would have been last year. But then even last year he didn't quite hit the heights of the previous two when the likes of Kelly would have been taking some focus away from him.

I also think that we have a number of other players who have started to step up to his level which also impacts on how we think he is going, especially compared to 2001-2.

Finally, he started 2002 pretty slowly but built it up to a blinder. And even last year he got better as the year went on.

I think Willo has been alright. Probably not quite as good as previous years, but still pretty solid.

In terms of errors last year, he came 7th on our list, which is pretty good seeing he was 3rd in disposals.

From a quick look through the rate for this year, it doesn't seem any worse.

In Willo's defence he has been on the end of some very crap handpasses of late, that have put him under extreme pressure.

My problem with Willo is his poor delivery to forwards from set kicks.

You, sir, have gone absolutely stats mad!
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time
