Been thinking how to approach the game this weekend, the weather might dictate things somewhat but I'm looking forward to the open spaces at the MCG.

We play a tight game at both the SCG and the Olympic Stadium almost by necessity given the size of those grounds so I'm thinking to maybe let us open the game out a bit more, pull one or two players away from the stoppages. We've tended to get done at the clearances anyway so let's give them that and play to our strength, running off of half back.
We've got a lot of footspeed so let's exploit it.

I am worried about this game - Essendon are c limbing the ladder and it is very tight with % for those on three wins.
Would love to see us beat Lloyd (creepy) and Hird (good player) Sheedy has had his wins and premierships - time for us to stand up.

Essendon is only climbing the ladder because it had such a shocking start. I reckon we can win. And we need to if we are to stay in touch with the ladder leaders. We'll be their toughest competition since R2.

I kinda agree with the Ashley Browne early opening for this week but think their "extra skill and toughness" may not be enough.

The Swans were supposed to be the real deal, so the loss to the Demons came as a major surprise. And while we enjoyed Paul Roos remarks about the comedic nature of the effort being on a par with Scooby Doo 2, we suggest the message behind closed doors might not have been as gentle. The Dons regain the Johnsons and McVeigh, and the extra skill and hardness might give them the edge here. For the purists, just sit back and enjoy Hird and Goodes on the same ground at the same time, as well as the Lloyd-Hall shoot-out

The interesting thing about the Johnsons and McVeigh is that they are all coming back from Hammies, so their match fitness must be questioned.

Also their ability to go the hard yards when it counts.

yeah hopefully we have the endurance (our strength in 2003) in the midfield to over run them in the end.

Coprrect me if I am wrong, but I believe the MCG is the same size as Manuka. Open spaces suit our running game. Much more of a worry to me is our tendency to play poorly if conditions are less than perfect. What is the weather forecast in bleak city this weekend?

Especially if the forecast comes to fruition and the ground is heavy - if that ends up the case, don't be surprised if there are some late changes in the Bummer line-up.

Yep - pretty much exactly the same. Makes a nice change that our game is suited to bigger grounds - hard to win the big one otherwise!

Bleak city!?! You know that Melbourne gets more sunshine in summer and less rain during the year than Sydney. There is more to life than sun and beach!!

The weather is meant to be 16 and showers.

It's been done a couple of times. Most recently by ex-pats.

But thats not the point, what's the forecast? I,m more worried that wet weather will effect our high handball posession style game.

It has in the past - we don't play well in the wet. We've only won 3 of our last 7.
