I was trying to remember when we last won in Melbne vs Dons, having lived mainly in Sydney I had seen the occasional game down here before moving, but could not remember a win.

Hardly surprising, we last won vs Dons at the MCG in 1923 (anyone go to that?). And at Windy Hill in 89 or 91!

So our young side will record a historic win on Saturday!

Last win in Melbourne was Windy Hill in 1989.

You're right in that the last win against the Bombers at the 'G was 1923 - it's also our only win.

Our record at the 'G against the Bombers is 1-10!!

Because of Windy Hill, there was a 68 year break in playing them at the G.

We could break the hoodoo this week because we have no problems per say with the ground. I'd rather play there than Telstra Stadium.

Interstate teams lift when playing at the home of football. (The exception being Port Adelaide )

I think the coaching staff will use this rare fixture at the G to our advantage, so it should be a far more intense performance than last week.

In the VFL most games were played at a suburban grounds, rather than the MCG, unless it was against one of the tenants. The earlier MCG games were finals.

Do they? None of the interstate teams (except Brisbane) appear to have great records at the 'G.
