Hird headache for Roos

As Sydney Swans coach Paul Roos puts the disappointment of last weekend?s 12-point loss to Melbourne behind him, he can now look forward to a fresh dilemma: The challenge of who to play on Essendon champion James Hird and the knowledge the decision will heavily influence the result on Saturday afternoon at the MCG.
?We are not really sure (who will play on Hird),? Roos said prior to Wednesday?s training session.
?It?s one of the biggest things, do you play someone on him that can go back and forward or do you go someone back and someone (different) in the midfield?
?I think Collingwood elected to go that way and I have seen a couple other tapes. It looked like West Coast played (Andrew) Embley on him for the whole game, so that is the biggest decision we have got to make.
?If we go with the two-pronged attack (Brett) Kirk will get him in the middle and someone else will get him down back.
?My ideal model that I would rather go with is someone who goes with him all the way, but it really depends on their structure; who they have got and whether we can afford to do that.?
While not discounting Adam Goodes as a candidate for the one-player role in the future, Roos believes his value to the team would better be served elsewhere this season.
After three wins and two losses to start the season, the Swans will be desperate for victory, but know it will have to be a 22-man effort against a talented 22-man team.
?You don?t want to focus too much on one player whether it?s (Michael) Voss - Brisbane, (Nathan) Buckley - Collingwood, Hird - Essendon, the danger is you focus too heavily on one player and your whole other structure falls apart,? Roos said.
?Suddenly Hird starts getting the ball anyway and everything else is a complete mess so we don?t want to fall into that trap, as they have a lot of good players like (Matthew) Lloyd who can play a bit up forward.
?They have got some quality midfielders and there are probably a couple coming back this week as well and their backline is solid so you just don?t want to take you eye off the rest of the 21.?
