When we were on top but pussyfooting with the ball he did what mattered and kicked the ball through the sticks - he importantly got the first goal of the match and then another big on in the second quarter.

He doesnt muck around and is incedibly brave and courageous. Shows some of his team mates the way.

Lets face it - they can already hand him the Swans best first year player award and he could make top 5 in what is best rising star field in a few years.

Although not as flashy, I have been starting to think that he is a relatively better prospect than Schneider.
Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

I suspect that once you're in the elite group - which in this context I mean on an AFL list - determination and work ethic are far more important than raw talent in dictating how far you go in the game. When you combine determination with the best level of talent you get a James Hird, Nathan Buckley, Shane Crawford or Chris Judd. The best talent without the determination will deliver you a Travis Johnstone or Des Headland. Determination without the highest level of natural talent delivers you a Brett Kirk. I'd rather have a Brett Kirk any day over a Travis Johnstone.

Schneider I suspect has greater potential to improve than Bevan because his fitness is relatively poor for an AFL player, even last year when he was playing good football. He's still very young and it's not that unusual for some of these players to arrive without an elite fitness level. But it will come down to how good he wants to be and how hard he is willing to work as to whether he achieves what he is probably capable of.

Bevan is one of those players who I reckon won't be left wondering whether he could have been better.

Definately a possible new #14. Just has to learn to control that agression a little, as he still gives away a lot of frees, and some of them quite crucial: Leon right in front hurt, and so did Hart right in front... well ok we got lucky

Don't think it's agression, just application (both of those frees were a little unlucky but technically there).

Paul is going to be a great asset to the Swans. He is a regular at Sydney Premier League games (nowadays only when he is in town), and a strong supporter of local football.

Can you be nominated for the Rising Star twice in the same season because if you can, Bevan (does he have a nickname?) would get it again this week.

No you can't. This late in the season there no "Star" rising stars left. There were only three this year anyway. They tend to give nominations for solid performances in 3 games or so.

Is Ablett eligible or is he too old?

He would have earned a nomination after playing so well on Scotland and Lappin (plus a memorable goal in each game)

                          Hey Guys

I like the look of three of our gun midfielders and they are Bevan Mcveigh who has been pretty impressive and also Nog

These 3 players are still very young and given more game time are only going to become better players for the Swans

Add them to a midfield of Crouch Kirky and possibly Kenelly and even Scneiderman when fit and firing they are truely the magnificent 7

What has happened to my friend Nick Davis ? Is he still injured and will he be back for the Swannies against the Roos

I am sure that he is just itching to get out there and give the Roos a caning

I hope that he gets back this year.It has been a shame for Nicky D

He has tremendous potential to be the superstar of the Swannies in the next few years. He is only 24 years old after all

What do u guys think about trying to get Mark Mcveigh from the Bombers ?

                          Regards Dazz

I really don't like the expression "they can only get better" because they could also not improve much at all.

I've said before I think Bevan is going to make a very useful midfielder. McVeigh has a huge amount of talent and once he gets used to the pace of AFL will be a fine player. Ablett has some talent and has shown plenty of potential, however we will see whether he can put it all together and play consistently.

I said a little while ago that our midfield could possibly be very good in a few years. I think Kennelly could be the answer for our free-running, long-kicking type of midfielder we need. Add J Bolton to that as our solid grunt type of midfielder and we get a nice mix.

What do u guys think about trying to get Mark Mcveigh from the Bombers ?
If he's cheap, yes, but otherwise I don't think we really need him.

I don't mind McVeigh the elder, but he is not what we need. We have enough of his type at the club, i.e. versatile running medium/small defenders. We need a tall defender and a midfielder of Cressa's ilk, and possibly a ruckman

We didn't need Nick Davis, but got him relatively cheaply, so if we got McVeigh for a third round pick, I'd take him mainly because of his versatility
