    Walk off

Is is beyond our boundaries - if when the umpiring is so bad and definitely wrong as called by commentators, journalists, radio etc etc - Why not Maxfield get the team together - after such blatant mistakes (because once the game is over - it is all over red rover as far as 4 points) - why not the team walk off in protest - we are going to lose anyway - cop a fine and make it a real wake up call for the AFL - it just is not right - and penalises us so much - makes a difference - always a Victorian team coming out on top.

    Sorry, but absolutely no way.

Their job is to do what they can to win while the game continues.

There mucst be someway to have a strong impact except doing a Hird - of impacting the umpire boss Geishen on how bad it is and how one sided.

There is. You do what Hird / the Bombers should have done and have an in private conversation with the umpiring decision to seek explanations of why those decisions were made. Hopefully this goes a small way towards helping the umpiring fraternity understand that consistency is critical. If it also means that one particular umpire doesn't get another gig for a few weeks, all the better.

The objective isn't to seek favours in the future. No-one wants to win a game thanks to dodgy decisions anymore than they want to be on the receiving end.

Thankfully I think we have a coach with the class to take this route.

I thought this thread was going to suggest a walk off (out) by our fans who deserved a better performance from the team!!
"As a player he simply should not have been able to do the things he did. Leo was a 185cm, 88kg full-back and played on some of the biggest, fastest and best full-forwards of all time, and constantly beat them." Roos.
Leo Barry? you star! We'll miss ya, ''Leapin''.

Actually I thought it was referring to Roos walking off with the umps on after the game.

I'd heard it mentioned somewhere and there was a pic or two in the press today.

Apparently he just eyeballed them with out saying a word.

agree with Lizz, there are ways of doing this correctly.

If we were do what was suggested, then every free or victory we got in future would have the same cloud and negativity surrounding it that Essendon now do. No matter how good they play there will be the comments from the other sides supporters suggesting "it was due that time they walked off in protest ..."

I want people to say we won because we came to play and played the better of the two teams, not due to an armchair ride.

It means jack to the umpires if a club complains privately to them. It might make the club feel better, yet it won't EVER solve the problem. Even as an ump at the junior level, if a club made a complaint privately to the umpires boss, that club got the same umpire for the rest of the season. While what Hird did, doesn't help the public's view on umpires, it made them sit up and take notice and as we saw yesterday it had an effect.

Having said that, no way could the club walk off if the umpiring went against them because at the end of the day, there is always going to be bad calls.

We could only walk off if our best bowler was continualy no-balled. ROTFL.. Oops wrong game!!!

Walking off would just cause friction with other clubs and esp. the AFL, they would probably fine the club severely.

                  Stupid Idea.

                    Composure Please

I think we have to much more civilised than just storming off. We simply find out where he lives.........and fire bomb his house!

(And, we should have done the same to Peter Carey).

                      I agree with Lizz

Although, I actually said during the game that the team should just walk off... mind you this was in a panic of frustration; obviously not thinking straight!

I also wanted to say that, IMO (although not throughout the game) the players played extremely well in the last quarter, considering. It would have been so disheartening for the players to finally get on a roll with goals, to have the Bummers get two free kicks to make all their hard work go to waste.

A better idea would be for all us fans to storm the field and beat up all the umpires, that will fix them
